El Garaje in Alicante is a hidden gem that pleasantly surprised us with both quality and value. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the decent portion sizes — perfect for sharing or enjoying solo without feeling overwhelmed.

One standout appetizer was Las Ramones — an absolute must-try if you’re a fan of truffle. Rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor, it set the tone for a really enjoyable meal (ham, fried eggs, and potatoes). The burger was another surprising highlight: smashed and well seasoned. Even the nachos impressed us with their bold, layered flavor and crisp texture.

To top it all off, the vino verano was fantastic — smooth, balanced, and a great pairing for almost every dish we tried.

Food is really good and price is reasonable. But it's fair to say it's not geared up for families, especially foreigners. We went into the bar with recommendation, the kids were tired as it opened from 8pm like most local restaurants in the place and the food is slow going. When we had to chase up food as my kids were falling asleep they offered to take away the food, the waitress couldn't understand us, so the food turned out different to what we thought, though delicious. The 2nd day, we went in hoping to get take away food as it's way past kids bedtime, but the waitress wouldn't budge and not very friendly, stating they wouldn't offer take away service. We waited outside as instructed, and when a table finally freed up, we sat down because we were clearly next. The staff, especially a waiter with slicked-back black hair, were rude, dismissive, and treated us like we did something wrong. When I explained I’m pregnant and couldn’t keep standing, the waiter said, “I don’t care, there are other pregnant women too.” Absolutely disrespectful and inhumane.
