Fare is an unobtrusive, anonymous looking restaurant that hides in plain sight on the Altea Promenade. Our party of 4 was greeted warmly and seated by our friendly, personable hostess. Although it doesn't have a large dining area, we were struck by the spacious table layout and the welcome absence of cheek by jowl contact with other diners. We ordered from the menú del día with delicious starter choices of unusual, original and innovative dishes. The lamb chop and dorada mains that followed were generously proportioned, beautifully cooked and accompanied by welcome mixed vegetable sides rather than the ubiquitous portion of chips. Token desserts of ice cream and tiramisu followed, with the full menú being complimented by a couple of bottles of very decent Rioja. Altogether we had a most enjoyable evening. The tab represented great value for money. Table service and pacing were spot on, as was the piped cocktail piano that in no way interfered with conversation.
