Don’t believe the hype.
Summary- Great location. Fantastic cocktails. Average food. Uncomfortable seating. One rude member of staff.
Unfortunately I feel this is another restaurant which has so much going for it, but it’s missing some fundamental elements.
After booking to stay in Camp De Mar we looked online for places to have dinner and Restaurant Illeta was top of every list we saw. With raving reviews, stunning picturesque images from guests and a salivating inducing menu we thought we were in for a great meal. Unfortunately it wasn’t so.
The food was average. So far we’ve had much better meals at other less well known restaurants which similar, if not better views and better service. The food was average. Nothing special about it. We had the croquettes and calamari to start with. The croquettes were really good as croquettes go. Some were salmon and some were walnut and they were really good. The calamari- nothing special. Same as most places really. For mains we shared the ‘no shell and bones’ patella. The rice was nice and there was a good selection of seafood mixed in but in regards to flavours there was nothing that stood out and it was not as good as we expected.
After 45 minutes of sitting in hard plastic chairs my back begun to hurt. After suffering a traumatic injury to my L5 a few years ago I’ve suffered with chronic pain ever since and the seating did not help. The longer I sat and ate, the more I began to ache and then hurt with the pain being more of a distraction, meaning I was more focussed on that than our meal. A waitress asked me if I was finished, I told her I was and she asked if there was anything wrong with the food. I explained the food was nice but I was uncomfortable and in pain which meant I had lost my appetite. The look I was given was one of disgust. Comments made to her colleague as they cleared the table evidenced her contempt for me as she mocked my pain and said I didn’t appreciate such good food (my Spanish isn’t the best but good enough to most of what is being said- staff should remember they are not the only bilingual people there).
None the less there is a big positive here- the cocktails. So far they are the best cocktails we’ve had. Made to perfection, perfectly cold and not overly packed with ice!
Would we go again? No. Do we think others would enjoy it? Yes. Worth doing it once? Yes. But manage your expectations...

What an absolute disaster. I honestly can't remember the last time I left a restaurant this disappointed — and maybe even a little angry.
The service was an absolute joke. Our server showed up once — once — and then vanished for the rest of the meal. No checking in, no refills, no interest at all. The vibe from the staff was clear: “eat quick and get out.” I’ve had warmer service at airport food courts.
We sent our drinks back because they tasted like straight-up cough syrup. How do you mess up simple cocktails this badly?
Then came the food — if you can even call it that. Bland, stale, and absolutely not fresh. This is Mallorca — the heart of the Mediterranean — and somehow they served food that tasted like it came from a hotel mini-fridge. Honestly shocking for a place that charges what they do.
To top it off, the whole experience felt rushed, uncomfortable, and borderline rude. They made it pretty clear they didn’t care if we were enjoying ourselves — they just wanted the table free as fast as possible.
To make things worse, the bathrooms were filthy and clearly neglected, with overflowing bins and an awful smell. And if that wasn't bad enough — they were right next to the kitchen. Nothing more reassuring than walking past a dirty bathroom on your way to where your food is being prepared. Completely unacceptable
Beautiful location, completely wasted by terrible food, awful drinks, and worse service. There are so many amazing places to eat in Mallorca — this is not one of them....
Read moreDidn’t get in so can’t comment on the stars - so leave as nil. After booking for four we arrived with only three guests, with good reason! Entry was not allowed as we didn’t have four? On what planet does this restaurant operate? Rejection came in the form of a rather sweaty, ( it was hot however) arrogant and unprofessional “host”. The table for four apparently could not be made into a table for three! Having in my years travelled extensively and eaten maybe a few times in restaurants ( like anyone who reads this) i have never had this occur… ever. I get that the arrogant host and a bereft management probably wanted four covers. If was peak season. That’s no excuse in a service industry for rudeness and unprofessionalism. It was not handled well…. Take it or leave it arrogance. They have lost my trade, ( they won’t care) my connected family trade and every single individual I know and work with in Majorca ( guess what I wasn’t a tourist) as it was arrogance and to be honest rudeness in the extreme. Fortunately we didn’t take the squeezed table for two and left for a more professional establishment. I would like actually to thank the arrogant and rude initial host for moving us on somewhere hugely better! Moral here - don’t turn up with a booking less than requested …or expect dire consequences! Unless of course it’s out of peak season ….. when of course they will no doubt be incredibly pleased to accommodate. Not with anybody I know …. They have been warned! The restaurant won’t care … probably just testament to the arrogance...
