We booked a table at Dedos Playa de las Américas online and even visited in advance to make sure we’d be seated in a non-smoking area. The staff were initially helpful and accommodating, and when we arrived for our meal, the upbeat music and lively atmosphere made a great first impression. The restaurant had a buzzing, energetic vibe and our table was in a comfortable, well-placed spot inside. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.

We ordered the Mixed Grill for two (€19.99 each), which on the menu promised ribeye steak, southern fried chicken strips, two Polish sausages, onion rings, two chicken tenders, two corn on the cobs, and a rack of ribs. What arrived was not what we had paid for. The chicken tenders were missing entirely, replaced by deep-fried halloumi — which the server claimed was the chicken, despite it obviously not being so. This was particularly concerning as we were never asked about allergies. Had we been dairy intolerant, this could have caused a serious problem.

The onion rings were also missing, and only after we questioned their absence were we told they had “run out.” That should have been mentioned at the time of ordering so we could have chosen something else. We had specifically asked for the fries to be served hot, yet they arrived cold. A replacement was brought, but they were so heavily salted that they were virtually inedible — it felt deliberate. The corn on the cob was also cold, and although we informed the server, nothing was done about it. What was meant to be a highlight meal on our holiday quickly turned into a big disappointment.

The staff, while smiling and polite on the surface, gave the impression that they were not really listening and did not care about the issues we raised. Dedos is clearly a busy restaurant that benefits from constant tourist footfall, and it feels as though that has led to complacency. Once your order is taken, the focus seems to be on turnover rather than quality or customer satisfaction. Problems were either brushed aside or met with excuses, and there was a noticeable lack of concern for customer experience.

From a value for money perspective, the price would have been fair had the meal matched the description and been served properly. However, missing items, poor food quality, cold sides, and unannounced substitutions mean that it did not deliver what was promised. What could have been a good-value dining experience ended up feeling overpriced and disappointing.

Overall, Dedos has the potential to be a great casual dining spot — it’s lively, modern, and the menu reads well. But based on our experience, the reality doesn’t match the promise. The lack of communication, disregard for allergies, poor food quality, and indifference to customer concerns make it very hard to recommend. This was one of the meals we were most looking forward to on our trip, but it ended up being one of the biggest let-downs. Sadly, we would not return and could not recommend Dedos to anyone seeking a quality meal or reliable service.

Cannot even be...

When I saw about “Dedos” in Playa las Americas and their burger set to compete for the title of the best Spanish burger, my interest was immediately piqued. As a burger aficionado, such claims are like a siren call, so naturally, I had to experience it for myself.

Upon arrival, it was clear the place enjoys popularity, bustling with energy on a Sunday. We managed to get a table for two without a reservation, which seemed like a stroke of luck. My advice? Book ahead to secure your spot.

Eagerly, I ordered “La Cheeky Burger,” the very burger poised to compete, alongside loaded fries. The burger’s ingredients promised a tantalizing experience. However, the reality was somewhat underwhelming. The bun was commendably fresh, but the overall burger didn’t quite ascend beyond the realm of the ordinary. The sauce, particularly, felt lackluster and in scant supply. My choice of sweet potato fries did not disappoint, fortunately, offering a redeeming grace to the meal.

The Chicken Tijuana loaded fries followed suit with the burger—more promise than delivery. Their appearance lacked appeal, and the flavor didn’t make up for it.

Our drink orders, a mojito and a gin tonic, were satisfactory, fitting well within the realm of okay without crossing into memorable territory.

The ambiance and service at “Dedos” somewhat salvaged the experience. The staff was quick and pleasant, contributing to a generally nice atmosphere. Dining outside added a pleasant dimension to our visit, though I can’t speak for the indoor experience.

Reflecting on my visit to “Dedos,” it’s a mixed bag. The hype around their competition-bound burger set high expectations that weren’t fully met. While the service and setting left little to be desired, the culinary adventure I hoped for didn’t materialize. It pains me to say, but despite wishing I could rate them higher, my quest for that standout...

Visited this local burger restaurant after seeing an advert – a good move as this place was excellent. Conveniently located just across the road from The Dubliner, where we were drinking, we came and ate here twice the food was so good. Managed to get in on both occasions without a reservation, but I suspect it gets a lot busier at peak times so probably worth booking if looking for firm plans or a larger group. This place bills itself as an ‘urban diner’ – not sure what that means but the menu itself was an excellent mix of the classics – burgers, cheesesteak, onion rings, loaded chips etc. If those things are urban then I can certainly say I like urban food. Order the LA Cheeky Burger, on first visit, which is their entry in to the ‘Best Burger in Spain’ competition – I don’t know what it is up against, but this has to be a worthy competitor overall. Really tasty, fresh and interesting. I liked this burger. The loaded fires and the onion rings just added to the meal. Second time I had the cheesesteak, which was also gorgeous, fresh and full of flavour. This place is good. I didn’t have any dessert, but they have those freakshake things that you sometimes see on Instagram – big and elaborate with a doughnut on top. Look good, but too much for me. There was beer though, and the beer was Cerveza Tropical, which is a good beer and went well with the food. If I lived here, I’d eat here at least weekly. I don’t live here though so will enjoy the memory.
