We ate here Sunday evening the 23rd. After reading all the fantastic reviews on Google and Tripadvisor, we could only assume that it was going to be fantastic.
We were received kindly with a table and quickly received the menus as well. The menu content seemed very touristy. We ordered some popadoms with some chutneys, which were both very good. For starters we ordered the vegetable samosas which were excellent, and the vegetable manchurian which was fine.
For main course we wanted to order paneer korma and fish balti, however they told us they weren’t doing (?) fish. I asked for some more minutes to look at the menu, but was persuaded/pushed into taking the king prawn karahi, which I’m not a fan of and told them that but they said it was their specialty. The food was accompanied by a portion of pilau rice and egg fried rice and a peshwari naan.
The karahi was alright, not great, but just not for me. The pilau rice was surprisingly dry and lacked flavor. The naan was okay-ish at best, though it was home made it was just not very flavorful for a peshwari naan.
The absolute shocker was the paneer korma. The paneer itself was good, but the korma sauce was hideous. It was very salty, very little sweetness, and above all it had a tiny spicey tone to it. In a korma! I’m quite certain it’s the korma from Pataks which is store bought as I recognize the taste and these 3 elements specifically, and that’s not a positive.
We didn’t eat a lot since we didn’t like it, but it was impossible to get someone to our table since we were just not noticed and even ignored. After being finished for at least 30 minutes, also without a drink, we got their attention and asked for the bill. Only then they asked why we didn’t eat. We told them we didn’t like it, which they ignored, and walked away.
Here’s the best part though, the bathrooms are FILLED with bugs. Not 1 or 2, but at least a dozen. I’m not an expert, but I thought they were young cockroaches. See the pictures.
The food was bad, service non-existent, cleanliness was atrocious. I would avoid this place like the plague. Don’t buy into all the seemingly positive reviews. Many reviews also state the same issues and also claim they were forced to leave a...
Read moreToday, my family and I stumbled upon a hidden gem, the BBQ Spice Indian Tandoori restaurant, during our quest for authentic Indian cuisine. As we strolled not far from the beach, a friendly gentleman handed us the menu at just the right moment when our appetites were making themselves known. The restaurant, though small in size, exuded a charming and cozy atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.
We decided to indulge in a variety of dishes, including paneer masala, dal makhani, aloo paratha, tandoori roti, chips, and popadum. Each dish was an absolute delight for the taste buds, boasting a symphony of flavors with a well-balanced blend of spices and just the perfect hint of chili, offering an authentic taste of Indian cuisine that left us thoroughly impressed.
What pleasantly surprised us was the reasonable pricing for such exceptional food quality. Not only were the prices affordable, but the portion sizes were generous, ensuring a satisfying and filling meal for the entire family without breaking the bank.
Beyond the delicious food and welcoming ambiance, the restaurant’s location close to the beach added an extra charm to the dining experience. The convenience of being within proximity to the beach made it an ideal spot for a meal after a day of enjoying the sun, sand, and sea.
Moreover, the staff’s exceptional friendliness and courteousness further enhanced our dining experience, making us feel like valued guests throughout our visit.
In summary, BBQ Spice Indian Tandoori is undeniably a must-visit restaurant for anyone seeking authentic Indian flavors in a charming setting. The delicious cuisine, generous portion sizes, reasonable prices, and its convenient location near the beach combine to create an unforgettable dining experience that we highly recommend. We left feeling both satisfied and eager to return for more...
Read moreWe came here after reading the many good reviews, on arrival we were disappointed that it was quite a dingy looking place but that didn't really bother us. We ordered our food, to start we had poppadoms...dips were charged extra, then for mains we had a tandoori mixed grill, chicken shashlik, Bombay aloo and a chilli & coriander naan. When ordering the chicken shashlik we were asked if we wanted mild, medium or hot, which we thought was a bit strange but ordered it medium anyway. So when the meals came the mixed grill was pretty good although obviously reheated, Bombay aloo also nice but a little on the dry side, naan bread was nice but couldn't really taste the coriander but as for the shashlik it came with an awful sweet tomato sauce all over it which made it pretty much inedible not like any shashlik we have ever eaten before and believe me we eat a lot of Indian food. When we mentioned this nicely to the waiter his response was " well when asked if you wanted it mild, medium or hot you said mild" this wasn't the case we told him medium but whatever, it shouldn't of been sweeter than a dessert regardless. The waiters negative response spoilt the service slightly as up till then the service was nice and friendly but after that it was a bit strained. I'm sad to say the following day my wife and I had to make numerous frantic dashes to the toilet, which is unlike us !! I am merely giving an honest review of our experience at this restaurant and am not trying to stop anyone from giving it a go as they seemed nice people but would we go again?? No...
