Reservation is highly recommended especially dinner. Foremost and definite, they have the best selection and variety of meats in South of Tenerife.
So far, we’ve had the Swiss, German, Spanish Bull, Spanish Brown, and Spanish Wagyu on their table top grill along with friends and family. You won’t be disappointed with selection from their menu either; Filet mignon was literally butter and Ribeye was great as in the USA. Fantastic meal every time and none stop ravings from all of our guests makes this perfect place to impress and get spoiled!
Their menu is extensive and quite attractive as well… one day I would like to try few others; such as suckling pig, lambs, various seafood, lobster and even snails. Quite array of fine wines in beautiful cellar, fresh seafood tank, variety of Iberian products you can’t miss, dessert case, and their “the meat case” can be found along with multiple restrooms in each segments of the restaurant, if you stroll through their beautifully decorated establishment.
Their mixed lettuce hearts salad is also a huge hit for us; served with 2pcs each of anchovies, smoked salmon, & cod on top of quartered lettuce hearts. In the middle you will find tuna along with tomatoes and red onions in light dressing. It is perfect to share for 2.
Though it may not be 5 star services like in the USA, but it is by Spanish standards of a fantastic service; something that the owners are very proud of. If you happen to find one of your servers to be abrupt, take the time to break the ice and you will find they are much light hearted people who welcome you with big smile thereafter.
We are food advocates who have been on the island for past 2 years. No matter where we go, we always try to find something local or cultural, fine or great dining, unique or different, traditional or creative. With our current experience on this island, we must say Meson Castellano’s tops on our list as Greatest Find in 2016!
Notes and comments: Reservation is much recommended especially for dinner and weekends. Parking can be bit tricky due to high traffic of the area. Ask your server of Daily specials including wine. We had wonderful Rioja for 18 Euros a bottle. Wish chupitos were free after spending so much for...
Read moreEverything we've ordered was cooked in obviously old oil, was soaked in far and left terrible feeling after. The shoulder of lamb was un edible; didn't taste like lamb at all, was chewy and felt like prepared of some really old frozen meat. Smelled off, worse than rubbish. Almost untouched was returned. By our nervous and unfriendly waiter we were told that it won't be included in the bill, however it was. A simple question about possible misunderstandingvraised a waive of aggression and hostility. Went for a cigarette. Made sure to inform the staff, that we are coming back to finish our drinks, just to find the table cleaned 5 minutes after. Asked to give us no more no less than what was in our glasses. Instead of good quality wine that was removed, he brought the cheapest house "alternative" and refused to give us a fair equal substitution. When confronted, answered with rude aggression and brought a manager, who was even more brutal and impolite. We didn't ask for it neither did anything wrong, yet it turned in the worst evereating out experience on all levels. Unprofessional stressed out and aggressive staff, rude arrogant management with no people skills or any idea about what hospitality business is about. Not even pretending to listen and be concerned, rather shutting us up and say absurd things to humiliate us. I am sure the bankruptcy is coming, I just hope, rather sooner than later. Don't support the place, that in whatever circumstances treats two nice girls like that. They do not deserve to exist as a business. And the food quality is...

We will pass on the reservation Name mixup as a slight language barrier issue. However, since the last two changes of ownership the standard of service has taken a backward step. Not sure if it’s due to the way the restaurant is managed, many servers visiting the same table with little time to form a relationship or the lack or respect to us ‘foreigners’ who haven’t mastered the language.
In the past years (over ten) the food was sublime and very difficult to fault in all areas, however, as with the service the food has followed. Pimiento piquillo bacalao starter was OK but not better than many other restaurants at lower price. My wife’s cerdo con ajo (pork with garlic) was greasy with oil in excess but tender, the taste again no better than many other establishments or indeed better than home cooked. My pechuga de cordero (suckling leg of lamb) was of course very tender with very nice scalloped potatoes. On the whole, the food was good for a very Spanish restaurant but not the spectacular of previous visits.
Together with €19+ Iva for bottom of the list Ribera del Duero and a bottle of water, lack of complimentary drink a total bill €70.63 was top of shelf price for average food and under...
