Follow up in response to owner’s comments:
If the owner’s response were true then this is the first restaurant we have been to that increases each item on the bill separately to include taxes. That is, each line item on the bill must been increased for taxes for this statement to be true.
Owner also does not explain why the initial reason provided by the server for the variance was to point to another line on the menu …..an item not ordered or received. If taxes was the reason for the difference why not say so in the first place?
We have visited hundreds of restaurants in Spain over the past few years and this was the first blatant example of overcharging that we have seen. Obviously the same for other reviewers of this establishment.
I wish we had read the reviews before visiting. Like others have noted prices on the bill were significantly higher than indicated on their menu. When this was pointed out for one item the server first pointed to another higher priced menu item that we did not order or receive and when corrected again he claimed the difference was due to taxes. Two different explanations. Funny how taxes would have resulted in an exact 3€ on one dish alone.
The only saving grace was that after pointing out the overcharging they did not attempt to browbeat us for additional tips like they did to the shocked customers seated next to us.
Given that other reviewers have noted this issue there is an obvious pattern with...
Read moreWe visited mint tonight as our usual Indian restaurant was closed tonight. We live here in Tenerife so we thought our custom would be appreciated elsewhere. How very wrong we were. We ordered 2 “special” menu meals and some other dishes as one of our party does not eat rice or chips which is part of the “special “ menu. When the starters arrived we asked if this was the normal size of portions and the reply was that the ingredients are more expensive now so portion sizes are smaller on the “special” menu. A little maths and we worked out the “special” menu is a couple of euros less if ordered off the normal menu. “Special” obviously means for the establishment and not the customer. The food was at best poor. No taste and we did not eat it. The bill was not reduced as the waiter said all is fine. We ordered jalfrezi and it tasted like mango sauce. My daughter had tikka masala and felt ill when she ate some of it. We were told people complain because the portions are to big but as you can see from the attached photo it seems hard to believe. We will definitely not be going back and I suggest you find other Indian restaurants to try as all are better in...
Read moreVisited Mint last night with my partner and the food was tremendous.
Each dish was carefully prepared with fresh ingredients rather than the mass produced sauces which taste like they’re from a jar in a few of the other Indian restaurants in Los Cristianos.
We had both chicken and vegetable pakora, both excellent, with the restaurants special chilli sauce which I’d highly recommend.
Alongside this we had saag aloo which was to die for. 10/10
Our mains were standard staples. Butter chicken and madras but you could taste the spices rather than just a bland sauce which made a huge difference to the quality of the food.
Both naan breads were perfect, garlic rice was also very, very good.
A special mention to the gentleman who I presume was the owner. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the food he produces.
All in all a must visit to anyone seeking some top quality, genuine Indian food during their time in...
