Waitress and manager saw that two customers (my party) were waiting at door, they looked a different way and left us about 5-7 minutes standing at a door before seating us despite the restaurant 80% empty. Poor show of custom there.
Waiting staff had no English, no help with wifi (despite advertising it's free!!) drinks order taken the second we sat without even seeing a menu. Food order promptly afterwards. Again, a further party were left at a door whilst the manager/maître di fussed about the restaurant.
Food: tepid, dry and basic food at a basic price. Mains inedible; food clearly was left on the chef's pass for too long and had dried rendering the food poor. Manager had little sympathy.
Bill: forced upon us rapidly after engaging us to pick a dessert or coffee. We chose to delay but they wanted more orders. The bill had two major glaring errors... Overcharged us on drink and food (ALWAYS - check your bill at the end)
91cent automatic charge for bread we never asked or requested. Yet they felt it perfectly ok to add this to an already wrongly priced bill.
Service, food, ambiance, atmosphere was all poor on levels. Highly recommend any other...
Read moreI’ve never written a bad review before, but this experience deserves one. The food and service were horrible. We ordered two appetizers and two mains. My husband’s main and both appetizers arrived together, forcing him to rush through his soup so his fish wouldn’t get cold - which also lacked flavor and salt. Meanwhile, my burger was completely forgotten.
I asked a waiter, who went to the kitchen but never came back. I asked another, and the same thing happened. When the burger finally arrived, it was rare, even though I’d asked for well-done. No apology was offered. To top it off, we were charged for bread we hadn’t ordered or eaten.
The restaurant was nearly empty, so it’s baffling how they could mess up such a simple order. I’ve lived in Barcelona for a year and a half, dining out three times a week, and this is by far the worst restaurant...
Read moreWe recently had lunch at Balthazar in Barcelona and left with a great impression. We ordered the entrecôte, which was well-cooked, though a bit tough for my taste. However, the wine was delicious and paired perfectly with our meal.
But the real highlight of the evening was the matcha coulant—it was absolutely incredible! I would come back to this restaurant just for this dessert.
I also want to give special recognition to our waiter, Carlos. He was incredibly polite, patiently answered all our questions, and made our evening even more enjoyable. One moment really stood out: my friend accidentally stained her shirt, and Carlos immediately brought a cleaning solution, allowing her to remove the stain on the spot. Such attentive service is rare to find!
The service at Balthazar is top-notch. Huge thanks to Carlos for his kindness and excellent...
