Old timers keep expectations high. This restaurant has been popular for decades. Be prepared to wait 6 months to find a table if it is for the weekends, such is the prestige they've gathered among happy customers. Weekdays you have more chance. At Ginés' you get the usual Mediterranean cuisine that revolves around fish and seafood with a very modest presentation but with the highest of quality. Yes, modest in Barcelona sometimes means good. These people do know how to fry Calamares a La Romana (squid) with the right batter. They know about fresh fish cause they had their own fish store right upfront. Rice with lobster or the lobster stew are out of this world and more than affordable! Of course you can have turbot, hake, monkfish and other delicacies along with your cod fritters, your mussels, your fried boquerones (anchovies) and accompany all with some good wine. You name it. We have been celebrating my friend's birthday, yet it was afternoon and we were in a small circle. The place however was full around 2:30pm on Saturday. Mostly with locals and a full big long tables. Excellent service , very friendly and caring staff.
