Updated review: my previous review and rating was for the original Marin. It has now changed hands and character, but retains the same name. I wish they would have changed the name and built their own reputation and reviews instead on using the foundation of a completely different establishment. And yes, I’ve been in multiple times to try it since the change. The owners seem nice and it’s average as a bar de tapas, it just really has nothing to do with the previous concept, so it’s another restaurant altogether. Make sure to read the more recent reviews to understand what it actually is today, and pay close attention to the tone of the responses to lower ratings, it says a lot.
Review for the original establishment:
Marin is really always my first choice for a drink in the neighborhood, and one of my favorites in general.
You feel welcome the moment you walk in. Very local, but often draws in curious tourists who are walking by and see everyone standing outside socializing and drinking from plastic cups. Always a nice vibe and a good time. They have homemade tapas as well- the bunyols de bacalla are my favorite.
If you're looking to buy a bottle of something to go, they give great recommendations, and don't be afraid to tell them your price range- they have quality options for...
Read more11/10! We love Bodega Marín so much that we came two nights in a row on our trip to Barcelona (first time with a reservation, second without). The interior is like a Catalan time capsule. Local food and exceptional service.
We ordered the delicious house-made vermouths (red and white). There are plenty of options of beer and natural wines. For food, the red prawns, jamón ibérico, and ribs with potatoes were all exceptional. The San Sebastián cheesecake was perfect and they were kind enough to top it with a candle for my partner’s birthday. The servers were so kind to us.
If that weren’t enough, we bought a jug of their vermouth to take home. We can’t wait to share a part of this tapas bar with our loved ones back home.
TLDR; if you want a picturesque local experience with great food and drinks in the trendy neighborhood Gracía, there is no other choice but Bodega Marín. Ignore the negative reviews. You...
Read moreIncredible place to eat with a small group . Established 1890s and is an authentic local place. Not at all touristy. Beautiful walls covered with authentic Spanish wines. It's recommended that you make reservations as it can get quite busy. It's a typical Spanish / Catalan bar and don't expect any fancy treatment. The small setup and tightly spaced seating is part of the bodega experience. Food options are limited but almost everything we ordered was exceptional. Notably the deer meatballs and the oxtail. The duck was also a site winner. The staff are amazing too Veronica and luis are incredibly helpful and helpful inspite it being busy. The owner needs to ensure that they keep awesome staff like this. Great desert options too. Their menu keeps changing regularly i was told. Would highly recommend i will personally be back here for sure. They accept...
