My 4th time in Barcelona and my 4th hotel. Based on my other experiences this Hotel is a 3.5 - 4.
We are a family of 3 (adults and 1 teenager) and ordered a room for 3. In general in Barcelona many hotels are “small” and it is important to ask how the rooms are set up. We ordered a travel package and didn’t investigate only that I stayed at a Catalonia hotel on my last visit it was a more spacious hotel 🏨. This one is smaller but good. We ended up getting 2 rooms, same floor because they are small and they had no interconnected rooms.
With that said the rooms were small but nice. The beds are clean and comfortable. I read some of the other low rated reviews and comments to compare. I can’t hear other guests and that is awesome. I also like a cold room and had the fan running to cool it down(nice). The shower had endless hot water and a tub. I keep track of my sleep score on a fitbit and had 4 nights scores(92,85,90,89) so great nights sleep 3 out 4 nights.
The terrace view and sun in the afternoon is just what we needed after being out all day. The breakfast buffet was very good and in general the staff was friendly and willing to help answer questions.
Location is amazing ! Walking distance to La Sagrada Família, Parc del Guinardó, Gothic Quarter, Plaça de Catalunya and much more. I would also suggest travel cards for 3 days that can be used on the metro and busses. Google maps directions suggestions on public transportation works great here.
I miss a coffee machine in my room hence the 3.5 star rating. The WiFi works but it’s not great, make sure download any movies or Spotify playlists...

The pleasant experience started at check-in time , when we met the above expectation front desk person Iban. He was kind and friendly and supplied much more information and tips than we normally expect to get without specifically asking. Iban's attitude continued all along our 6 nights stay.
The Room we got was on the 5th floor , facing the street. Close to the elevator. none introduce any noise issue.
The room is well furnished , and in particular we enjoyed the wide ( 2 meter ) bed , and the spot reading light besides it.
3 out of our 6 nights stay we upgraded to a suite at the 7th floor ( extra 40 euro a day ) and we think it well worth the price
( Extra living room , big balcony , Jacuzzi as part of the bath , nespresso coffee machine , and few other delights )
The hotel is so well located right by the wonderful Garcia neighborhood, which is a real charm for walking around , dining and enjoying a much less tourist crowded authentic part of Barcelona.
There are more than few 24 hours small super markets close to the hotel ( one practically next door ) which is a nice plus , and in addition it is located between two metro stations ( enabling one to choose which one to go to to save line changes )
Breakfast was extraordinary. Just to mention the fresh squeezed orange juice , a "musli" bar , in which you can build your own flavor of muesli based on variety of fruits , nuts , yogurt and cereal.
Definitely a place to...

In November 2021 I stayed at Catalonia La Pedrera and upon check-in I was robbed. I was literally checking in, at the front desk, paying for my room and had all my bags on the floor next to me. My back was turned to the exit but in clear view of the guy checking me in. Upon check-in when I want to grab my backpack it was stolen, laptop, Ipad and more gone.
There was a suspicious man sitting on the couch reading a newspaper and the clerk at the desk obviously had clear view of anyone behind me and could distract me with signatures, not saying this was an inside job but highly suspicious.
The hotel has zero security. I was able to view the security footage which shows a man stealing my bag, the Catalonia Hotels wouldn’t acknowledge if this happened before and merely offered me an apology and free breakfast for my inconvenience. $750+ of stolen items and they offer a $20 breakfast. A terrible experience and not a safe hotel in Barcelona. Do not stay here.
I since emailed the corporate offices, Catalonia Hotels, etc hoping for some gesture of goodwill and their general manager Rafael Turrillo responded and was no help. He was more concerned I had the footage of the theft. I would have hoped for a simple gesture rather than a threat, especially since I am a rewards member.
Catalonia Hotels has zero commitment to their customers and this brand...
