Chatelet — Restaurant in Barcelona

I have never written a comment on here before, but this is the worst bar in Barcelona. I have been here two times, both awful. The first time me and my friends left after one drink, but it felt like a year by the time that first drink arrived. Second time I had four drinks, the longevity due to a friend's birthday drinks as opposed to any appreciation for the bar itself. Despite us booking a table for the birthday party and being at the bar from 8pm till 1 in the morning a bad tempered blonde haired waitress constantly asked us to move. Whether we were ordering at the bar or sitting at the table they assigned us. She kept on claiming the staff didn't have enough space, we kept on moving, but it was never good enough for her. Next time she passed she would shove a chair into somebody's leg and not apologize, apparently illustrating her point there was not enough space. If you don't want customers, close. Around midnight, after putting my coat on two barstools stacked that were not being used I was asked to move it, by the more affable of the barstaff, I agreed. This despite a good 2-3 tables and complementing chairs being free for other patrons. The final straw that led me to storm off and warn people of this horrendous place was when I was saying goodbye to the birthday girl. As I was saying goodbye and many happy returns the blonde waitress thought this would be the best time to return the stools, which they had removed before, back to the other area with 2-3 tables and corresponding chairs free. First I said in Spanish "one moment please" this did not suffice. I then said "okay, pass" and me and my friend moved as much as possible. Still the waitress was not satisfied so I just left. Fitting for this bar that this whole flashpoint started...

A disaster. Not sure if tourist trap (even though I'm not a tourist) or just plain scam. The drinks: ordered a margarita, priced higher than average, received a small glass not up to the price, horrible presentation and 70% of capacity, not even the full glass... a shame. And on top of that, warm. Asked for ice after the trying it. Food: a shame too, ordered a couple of tapas, some where ok, none really good. The star of the night: Hummus with guacamole haha. Served in a small bowl, when I say small, imagine the kind of small dishes where you can get free ketchup in other places (not exaggerating), the guacamole was not fresh, the nachos they add where right from the package, can't complain there, opening a pack of is not that difficult. In summary, I will never come back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone wanting to have a nice time and have some nice cocktails, well priced...

We came here for some food/sandwiches probably about two weeks ago and it wasn't a very enjoyable experience. I believe I also visited maybe 3 or 4 years ago and had the same experience. It took a very long time to get served and the staff were not very friendly. When the food arrived it wasn't anything overwhelming. Atmosphere is cozy, with rustic decor and feels a bit Bohemian which can be nice. I'm not keen on revisiting but would encourage you to read the other reviews to see...
