RUDE is the word! I was waiting to see if someone would talk to me before we can seat, and nobody did. So we just seated in the table that was free. Then came a guy and said: Do you want to seat in a dirty table? And then I laughed, I thought he was joking, but no.. he was being rude. And then when I looked back he was angry and said to other person: “I hope they understood” and left. I was quite confused at this point.. but then when saw the other customers trying to explain to me, I got it! TOTALLY UNNECESSARY! He simply came, made this comment, got angry and left without us understanding why he was so upset. I don’t mind if the table is dirty, I can wait to be clean.. I’m was not complaining and even saying anything, he just gave us some free rudeness. I was standing up and my boyfriend was seated because he was not feeling good, but did this guy took a second to understand us? No he did not, and was also being sarcastic because of my poor Spanish. So disrespectful, when I was just trying to be respectful towards them. I was patiently waiting for their service, but he chose the be rude.. so well, good job, you made me leave if was want you wanted.
I have worked in a restaurant for 2 years.. I would never be angry with someone because they decided to seat in a dirty table, specifically when there is NO sign saying: “wait to be seated” or anything like this. Is not the customer fault if the only table free was dirty.
If you can’t be kind, just didn’t come to talk to us. I would leave after waiting for a while anyways. We were having a good time in Barcelona, and people like you make me upset...
Read moreThe review you actually should read:
It looks like this spot has drastically increased their prices in recent months. Prior reviews (which was the reason we stopped in) claimed this was a very affordable lunch option. However we noticed that the set menue prices have doubled in the last 4 months (from 12€ to 22€ per person).
This spot was good- my partner and I each did the "half meal" which included a personal paella, drink, and dessert. The food was good, but not nearly good enough to warrant spending almost 50€ on a lunch. We were also not fans of the fact that we HAD to get a drink and dessert in order to get paella. This is the most expensive meal we've had in our month long stay in Barcelona. Had we know the dramatic price increases, we would not have gone.
There are other spots with great paella, better prices, and more lenient menu options- I'd reccomend you start there.
A few Pros: waitstaff is friendly, there were 5 paellas options (and my husband and I enjoyed both of our meals well enough), complementary bread and olives were served...
Read moreWe sat down with a few friends for what we hoped would be a nice dinner – and it turned out to be an absolute disaster.
The food was cold, not fresh, and tasted awful. In one of the dishes, we even found pieces of eggshell – disgusting and completely unacceptable.
We politely asked if the dish could be replaced since it was clearly inedible. Instead of understanding or apologizing, the waitress started yelling at us, speaking in an extremely rude and aggressive manner. It felt like she realized we were Israelis and decided to treat us with open hostility – borderline racist behavior.
The service was horrendous, the food was terrible, and the attitude was beyond disrespectful. Honestly, I have no idea how this place gets such good reviews – maybe they’re fake, or written by people who have no standards.
Bottom line: If you’re Israeli and respect yourself – stay far away from this place. Total disgrace of a restaurant. Bad food, nasty service, and a humiliating...
