The best meal we had in Barcelona!

It’s tucked in a small plaça in El Poble Sec right by where we were staying. I had the pumpkin salad and octopus with allioli au gratin - I’ve never finished a meal quicker than my partner but I absolutely devoured this.

I cannot stress this enough: Get the torradeta de Santa Teresa. It was life changing. Even my partner, who is not a foodie, has not stopped talking about this.

Not only is the food amazing, but the service is incredible. We had the best server, I wish we got her name (patchwork tattoos, nicest person in the world). She was so unbelievably kind to us and made our visit spectacular - We hope she sees this and knows what a wonderful night she gave us!

Sortidor 1908 is a historical place operated over 100 years with authentic Spanish food. We were there with our local tour guide and he told us Sortidor 1908 is his one of favorite spot for tapas and paella.

We ordered their Jamón iberico con pan con tomate and patatas bravas. Our tour guide showed us the traditional way to have Jamón iberico con pan con tomate and it was really fun to create your own. They well fried the potato and it was soft and creamy inside with crispy layer, the allioli with gravy sauce on the top was amazingly tasty and addictive which made us buy one bottle of allioli as souvenir.

We have been eating our way across Spain and this was a highlight. A hidden gem, the restaurant is in a small neighbourhood square and has real character. The vintage interior with old stained glass windows is charming while there is also outside seating in the lively square. The staff were extremely welcoming and excited to share their passion for catalan cuisine.

We had the xato, pan con tomate (recommended by the waiter), fiduela and toraddes de saint teresa (catalan torrijas/french toast). All excellent with the xato standing out as particularly fresh and well balanced. Price was lower than average and quality higher. A great...
