I am writing to share my disappointing experience at the café in the Joan Miró Museum during my recent visit. While I was looking forward to enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of the museum, an incident at the café left me disheartened. I placed an order with one of the staff members, who informed me that the kitchen was closed. However, shortly afterward, I noticed another guest receiving the exact same order I had requested. Confused, I decided to place the same order again with another staff member, only to hear the original staff member speak negatively about me in Spanish. Unfortunately for her, I understand Spanish and was able to comprehend the unkind words used about me. When I confronted her and requested to speak with a manager, I was met with an equally dismissive response. The manager defended the staff member without fully addressing the situation and implied that I had misunderstood. This entire experience was not only upsetting but also deeply disappointing, especially in a space that celebrates the universality of art and culture. As a visitor who came to appreciate Joan Miró’s legacy and the museum’s offerings, this treatment felt entirely out of place in such a welcoming and inspiring setting. I hope that you will look into this matter to ensure that future guests do not...
Read moreScam Alert: In the cafeteria, One of the staffs (who was even wearing a white shirt) charged me double for what I ordered. When I pointed out the error, they refunded me in cash, but it still felt quite off—especially for a museum, not just a tourist gift shop. Makes me wonder if this kind of scam is targeted at foreigners. :)
Disappointing Exhibition: As a fan of the artist, I had high expectations, but the exhibition was underwhelming. The works didn’t live up to what I’ve seen elsewhere. Paying 15 euros felt unreasonable considering the quality and quantity of the pieces, especially when compared to other museums in Barcelona, Spain, or even across Europe. :)
Visiting with a child was quite uncomfortable. The staff seemed to follow us around and kept a close eye on my child just for holding something in their hands. It was almost comical since the museum didn't mention any specific age restrictions. :)
Overall, my visit to the museum was disappointing. The cafeteria scam, uncomfortable staff interactions (especially when you're with a kid), and the lackluster exhibition made it a letdown, despite my admiration for the artist.
Such a shame that the museum didn't do justice to his talent...

The Miró exhibition is truly beautiful.
I went there, drawn in by a promotional flyer featuring one of his iconic works.
The exhibition is housed in a beautiful building surrounded by a university park and located near the Po River.
It provides a clear and engaging overview of the artist Joan Miró’s journey, notably including an interview in which he passionately explains his work—a blend of creativity and technique.
A small portion of the works presented by Miró are truly stunning. Each piece is unique and reveals the artist’s inner life—his emotions, but also, at times, intellectual messages.
The artwork I liked most was mainly yellow, but also featured blue and red. To me, it was full of joy, hope, and energy, with a childlike touch. There is a sense of disorder, but a disorder filled with freedom, one that breaks away from the constraints of everyday life.
In the end, I left the exhibition feeling re-energized and with the sense that I had acquired a kind of treasure. The artworks...
