Our stay wasn't ideal and trust me we really wanted to love this beautiful hotel, firstly there was a mix up with our penthouse booking and we ended up with a much smaller room. There was also no room service, so our hoping for a pampering getaway diminished significantly on the first day.
We had also researched this hotel extensively, we were looking forward to all the food that was shown on their website, which involved a few different menus depending on the time of day. This was another unavailable service. Instead a restaurant had moved in and taken over their food service. None of this is mentioned on their website even though it should be updated to inform guests. We came expecting something we were really looking forward to and were ultimately disappointed. Also please note that they have no restaurant or hot food available for a few days of the week either, just snacks and drinks left on a table downstairs.
The breakfast was repeatative, they also forgot my order for eggs and yoghurt twice. They also served my toddler raw eggs twice. In the evening the restaurant staff completely dominated all downstairs seating. My partner needed our room for a work call and so I went down to the lobby with my toddler. My plan was to grab a small bite and something to drink but the staff were not accommodating. I was told to wait in a corner holding my struggling toddler whilst he checked the reservations book. He never came back so I just sat down. He then served the one table he had, and I waited in a completely empty restaurant for service which never came. No menus. No offer of water. No child chair. They had 2 unused ones. He also took the chair off me an evening before. It was just very uncomfortable and unfriendly feeling. I sat for an hour, the one table he had ate and left in that time. No reservations turned up so I don't completely understand why I was not welcomed in.
If you want a luxurious get away I would recommend staying at one of the bigger hotels, I wish my partner and I had stayed at one of the bigger 5 star places we considered before settling on the brummell. We would of had a much nicer time.
The one plus point at this establishment were the cleaning staff, they did a wonderful job of tidying and cleaning our room. It was very nice to have a lovely clean fresh bed every night and they always put the teddybears back into our daughters cot....
Read moreMy experience was somewhat mixed. |I liked the hotel (concet) itself, but didn‘t feel entirely comfortable in this neighbourhood since it‘s partly very run down and dirty, with a lot of pigeons.||I stayed in the Penthouse Room; the view and terrace up there is amazing, and it‘s quiet - however, I think the price is too high for what’s on offer, with the room not being very big.|The hotel‘s main pool is minuscule.||What really bothered me was the folliowing:|Some of the staff were incredibly unfriendly, merging on being rude. For instance, a nice lady at the reception wanted to give me some info about the hotel facilities upon check-in.|We were abruptly and almost aggressively interrupted by a blonde woman (manager?) who stood unbelievably close in front of me and told me that there might be some noise coming from repair works during my stay. |Oh, and that couldn‘t wait until your colleague was finished? (btw, there was no noise)||Also during my check-in there was a photo session going on next to the reception (remember this is a tiny place) and they would not move an inch to make way for paying hotel guests.||Apart from one day, there were people with notebooks sitting at the breakfast tables (7 in total inside). For HOURS. Sipping on one cup of coffee the entire time and not being told to make way for hotel guests…||On one day there was a large dog in the kitchen, belonging to a staff member. The kitchen is where you go to get your breakfast, so if you‘re afraid of dogs (or don‘t like them being in the kitchen), good luck!||Speaking of which, breakfast is good, but overpriced, and most of the really yummy pastry costs extra. If you come across the same waitress as I did, she will not know what a Latte Macchiato is…||This place could be awesome if someone rectified these issues. Sadly I don‘t see...
Read moreWhat an absolutely wonderful boutique hotel!!! Made our first ever trip to Barcelona a few weeks back for the Primavera Sound Festival and couldn't have picked a better place to stay! There was a super helpful facts sheet about getting to/from the festival in our room and Angelo, Maria, and Madou at the front desk had answers to every other question we had! Using the metro. Where to eat. Best coffee shop nearby. They were so kind and helpful, it felt like chatting with friends! We gave them hugs when we departed.
The breakfast at the hotel is superb. We ate there almost every morning. You know when the locals come to eat/drink coffee at your hotel you picked the right place! Stefanie (or Stephanie?) the server was an absolute delight. They did cocktails/happy hour a few nights of our stay and we loved those as well. The in-room slide sandals are SO COMFY, especially after a day of walking around the city. The A/C worked great. There's new recommendations for local things to do/see in the elevator every morning. Just 10/10 all around.
It's located in the super chill and safe Poble Sec neighborhood, which is near/walking distance (for us at least, we like to walk ;) to a bunch of stuff - Las Ramblas, the Cathedral, Plaça de Catalunya, etc - but not IN the madness, which was perfect. If you're not a walker, the metro is super easy to use and just down the hill and there's cabs everywhere too. There seemed to be one or two turning down the street the hotel is on every minute and the hotel can call one for you as well. La Sagrada and Park Güell are about a 10 minute cab ride away. (Both amazing!) If we ever go back to Barca, we're definitely staying here again! ¡Muchas...
