I had the absolute worst experience at Gandhi Restaurant in Barcelona—honestly, the worst food I've ever encountered, not just in Barcelona but in my entire life. I ordered chicken tikka, which smelled rancid and was clearly not fresh. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they rudely suggested that it was just my taste buds, implying the problem was with me, not the food.
Trying to be polite, I agreed when they insisted on "fixing" it by adding more spice. Even after cooking it again, the chicken still stank of rotten meat. We then ordered chicken Madras, hoping for a better dish, but it turned out to be nothing more than boiled chicken in a dirty gravy, which later gave us stomach pains.
To make matters worse, when my girlfriend asked the manager for toilet paper, he suggested using the hand dryer instead, which was beyond humiliating. We had to explain why toilet paper was necessary—a basic expectation in any decent establishment.
Despite not touching the rotten chicken, they added it to our bill. When we protested, a staff member named Danish became extremely rude, first telling us to leave without paying, then accusing us of trying to run away without paying. I even had to record the interaction to protect ourselves. Ultimately, we paid for what we ate out of respect for another staff member, but this was hands down the worst dining experience we've ever had.
I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this place at all costs. Terrible food, horrible service, and an all-around disgraceful experience....
Read morerestaurant is clean and service is friendly and attentive. We went with a groupon that was given to us as a gift. There were three options for a main course: chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and dahl makhni. Two of us being vegetarian, we were disappointed that a dahl was the only offer for a vegetarian equivalent to butter chicken and tikka masala. There was no flexibility with this which is their right to set but we can only rate the food that we had. The onion bhaji was really nice. The dahl was incredibly boring. I could only have a little bit of it, it completely lacked flavour. My daughter who is fine with bland foods thought it was fine though so we ended up taking most of it home for her- they charge 50 cents for each take-out container. I ended up trying a bit of the sauces of the chicken dishes just to get some flavour of something- the tikka masala was decent and the butter chicken sauce was nice. The naan was pretty good. Thin, not very fluffy, but had a nice buttery flavour. Dessert was one ball of gulab jamun each which was fine for the children. We ordered an additional dessert of mango lassi which was really nice. Just the right flavour balance which seems is hard to achieve. As residents here, we're always on the look out for Indian restaurants we enjoy and can go back to regularly. This...
Read moreWe ordered two different curries, white rice, butter naan, Coca Cola, and mango lassi and the total cost was about 40 euros. Not that bad price in this central touristic area. But after meal, I saw the waiters gave other customers the carta of menú del día that is much much cheaper and I asked them the reason why they did not tell us up front. The staff said that’s because we did not request. It is surprising. I’ve been in Barcelona for +4years and experienced +50 restaurants including touristic restaurants. None of these restaurants forgot to tell they have the menú del día upfront. They told us this is their policy - they don’t give the carta of menú del día unless we request. I saw they gave some of the ‘Western’ customers regardless of the request… Anyway, I take it as a good learning experience and I recommend future customers, particularly those who are from East Asia, to ensure you will ‘directly’ check with the staff if they have the menú del día before you actually order from the normal menu or you will...
