I have never felt this unwelcome in my whole life.
I rarely leave reviews - usually only if I'm amazed by the experience. I NEVER wrote a bad review - but this deserves to be the first.
I went in with my girlfriend hoping for a nice spot where we can talk in private, but the waitress told us (on Spanish) to sit at the entrance in between two couples, even though the whole place was completely empty.
She continued speaking Spanish, none of us understanding a single word. We somehow got her to show us the menu. It was in Spanish - after 5 minutes of us googling and translating things, she impatiently and nervously took the menu and elaborated everything in Spanish, even though we said we don't understand it.
I turned to the couple next to me and asked if they spoke English, they said yes. I went on to ask a question about the menu, and the couple answered my question, followed up by "but you can ask the waitress, she speaks English".
After the waitress heard that, she switched to English and authoritatively said not to bother other guests but to ask her directly what we want. We asked a couple of questions, only to get cold annoyed responses.
She continued to ignore us for the next several minutes even though we waved the menu. We picked up and just left.
Also, you get 1 small Bruschette tapas for 2,5 eur. The drinks are also pricy. We went to a nearby Italian pizza place and had a whole pizza for 9 eur. Much better choice, I'm glad we left, never...
Read moreStumbled upon this local tapas bar in Barcelona and it quickly became one of the highlights of our trip. We ended up going two nights in a row — and would absolutely do it again.
The two bartenders — who seem to be a couple — are the heart of the place. He’s got a dry, hilarious sense of humor that sets the tone, and together they make everyone feel like a regular.
That said, if you’re easily offended or don’t appreciate a bit of cheeky banter, this might not be your spot. But for those who enjoy a fun, unfiltered vibe — you’ll love it here.
As for the food — wow. We had the tortilla with meat (not sure what it was, but it was delicious), the artichoke tempura (I would fly across the world again just for these), the fried eggplant, and the meat with chimichurri. Everything was fresh and flavorful.
Great food, unforgettable personalities, and a place that...
Read moreWhere to start,,,, Fantastic and delicious pinchos lineups and very friendly staff but quite reasonable prices. They are always busy and hard to get seats. They showed me “how wonderful Spanish cuisine is” by their food. We, 4 adults, kept ordering food and drinks but our bill was just about €70! Also they are really good at recommending their pinchos and we were totally defeated by their skillful suggestions. Along with their food, we also enjoyed their warm & funny hospitality. Definitely I think this is the best pinchos place of all I have ever tried in Barcelona. I would like to keep this place secret for my own sake but for Gasterea’s sake, I should boldly recommend to everyone! (If you want to get seats, you should go as soon as they open in...
