We were so happy to find this place! As two Southern California natives transplanted in Europe, we’ve had such a hard time finding Mexican Food that rings true. Gastro-Taqueria made us feel right at home. We started with a bowl of guacamole and pico de gallo, which tasted fresh and authentic and set the tone for a great experience. I had carnitas tacos cooked with the ideal buttery, salty perfection and topped with creamy ripe avocado. My wife had the vegetarian tacos which were packed with savory flavor and rich texture. We each had a delicious margarita. Our little one enjoyed a special plain cheese poquito quesadilla made especially for her at the insistence of our waiter. We had a great time. We did not have a reservation, but we promised to eat quickly and they generously accommodated us. The inside decor was fun, with a giant mural of Frida Kahlo, and the music selection had my daughter boppin’ and dancin’ in her seat throughout dinner. The kindness and attentiveness of the waitstaff really generated a positive atmosphere. We’ll definitely venture back on our next trip...
Read moreTOTAL FIASCO! Do not fall for all the previous positive reviews, this place is not what it used to be!!! They are understaffed, as usual, and service is veeeery slow. Also, food is overpriced and not even close to what the menu shows: nachos, for instance, are one layer of chips barely covering the plate, with very scarce toppings... at 28 euro! They offer an assortment of Margarita flavors that you actually cannot get... they only have Corona beer (seriously?!) and last, but not least, mind the check, as they will probably try to charge you for something you did not order or for a meal they themselves suggested, with no mention of the price (+10 euro for a single quesadilla??!), they only take cash (?!)... In short, a REAL...
Read moreCame in with high hopes. But the prices just zapped us. We were almost about to leave but decided to give it a shot. Its not in the city centre, no views that wow you, does not have great ambience, but we were hoping the food will cover up for it. Guac was good, but the main course disappointed us. Same fillings in all the dishes, just the base was different. No effort to even use different sauces to vary the flavours. Dont know how and why people have given 5 stars to this place. Absolutely not worth the money you pay for. Wouldve been a 3 star place but I would give it 2 stars just for the robbery. PS: had to pay in cash. They were not accepting cards. No issues with the staff. They were very polite...
