This was my 3rd time to this ice cream shop. I’ve always enjoyed it, but tonight I feel obliged to make a review as the guy serving me was exceptionally rude, which I have never experienced in an ice cream shop before. I work in a restaurant, and there is a standard of etiquette with which we treat our customers. The guy was extremely short with me and rude to begin with, and when I ask for a third sample, after having prepaid, with no one in line behind me, the guy told me this is not a tasting bar. You get 2 flavors and I got a third sample because I didn’t like the first two I tried. At Anita, around the corner when you get a sample they do it with a smile and encourage you to try flavors when it’s not busy. I get his point of view, but to leave an ice cream shop in a bad mood was a first for me, and quite the opposite of what I imagine the experience is that you’re trying to create. The best ice cream I’ve had in Barcelona in 13 years of living here! Among all my favorite places, this one is number one! For me, it makes a huge difference that you can choose two flavors for the small cup — something you can’t do in most other places in Barcelona. On top of that, the portions are very generous for each size. They offer a great variety of flavors, and every single one is truly delicious. Our top choices is Mascarpone con frutas rojas, Banana split, Coco, and Tiramisu. It’s a family business, and a lovely detail is that the owners personally attends to the clients. Be prepared to become addicted. We are people who would give up food in favor of gelato and this is by far the best gelato we have had anywhere. The owner, Leo is welcoming and super friendly. He is involved in every aspect of the production of his product and his love of his work shows. His gelato is super smooth and creamy. The flavors are rich and full. The Dulce de Leche is made with chocolate shavings and is the best of the best. He has calibrated the temperature perfectly and his generous portion are sure to make you move up a pants size.
