Candela Canela Rolls

Diving into the sweet joys of Barcelona, we could not forget to review and exalt CANDELA CANELA ROLLS. Oriol, the owner, is the one man behind the company, and does it to perfection. 2 years from now (February 2018) the store opened in a gracious street in Gracia, very near to the well known PLAZA DEL SOL. In this place, rolls from various flavors are produced by hand every day to be sold there, or to be delivered in many other restaurants, bars, and for special occasions as parties, reunions, and celebrations throughout Barcelona. As for coffee, a Bealtiful La Marzocco extracts the ONAWA ROASTERS coffee, roasted in Zaragoza, in one of few places that offers Onawa in Barcelona. The coffee is great, and is always done with love and a nice talk with Oriol. Last time we were there we had the opportunity to see the mixture resting and growing in a corner of the store, waiting to be mounted and baked the next day. The cinnamon smell inside is breathtaking as the name “CANELA” suggests! So, whenever you are up to gorgeous sweets paired with great coffee, or passing by Gracia neighbourhood, have a look in our MAP and go to Candela Canela! Totally worth it! Read moreI visited on a Saturday morning, based on the excellent reviews of both Tripadvisor/Google. Firstly the choice was not that big: no chocolate, Nutella or dulce de leche - as I saw in many pics - no savoury options, either. Secondly, the rolls didn’t really look that fresh, not sure they were made the same day. I had 3, takeaway: cinnamon, apple and cheese cake. IMHO too sweet, especially because of the excess of sugar coat on the top. I have the chance to visit Scandinavia several times p/year, you cannot beat Norwegian/Swedish Kanelbullar, less sweet much more fragrant. But if you have the chance one day to visit Iceland, Brauð & Co. in Reykjavík have the best I tried so far, sublime to say the least. Overall Candela Canela an ok option, definitely not a must...
Read moreThis cinnamon roll is right up my alley! I’ve tried few different ones in Barcelona, and candela canela knows the best, from my point of view. The bun is soft and fluffy, cinnamon in each layer, with each bite, your mouth fills with moist bun and cinnamon aroma, and the icing just gives it a nice kick of sweetness. The shop is rather small but you still have space to sit down sipping your coffee and munching your cinnamon roll. 👌🏼 (It has coffee + roll deal, so not to worry)
If you are in Gràcia, don’t miss...
