Joosy Gastro — Restaurant in Barcelona

Last night, 2 of my friends and I went to this place for dinner. My two friends arrived 15 minutes (at 10:15 pm) before me and ordered 2 main dishes, a Mac & cheese (starter) with their drinks and told the waitress that when I arrive I will order my drink and main dish. We planned to share 3 different main dishes between us. When I arrived I ordered my drink and main dish. The two dishes ordered by my friends according to the menu description were slow cooked dishes and needed about half an hour to prepare. We received the dish I ordered first and we were a bit surprised, but that dish had a normal preparation time and we noticed that the others needed more time. When we finished that dish the same waitress from before strangely asked us if we wanted any dessert. We told her that we still have the two main dishes and they have not arrived. Upon hearing this, she told us that we only ordered one dish. And the kitchen was already closed (at 11:08 pm). We explained to her the mistake she made and made it clear that we are still very hungry. She told us that she could not do anything else in this situation. My colleague asked her to at least try to talk to the cook about this. Before she left our table to the kitchen, we repeated the missing dishes (1 chicken + 1 shrimp). Within 30 seconds she came back telling us that she can only bring us the beef dish from the dishes we ordered and we immediately told her that we did not order beef, we ordered chicken and shrimp. I don't know how but she had completely messed up our order again in those 30 seconds. At that moment, there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant, and there was no chance to mess up the order made 30 seconds ago. Afterwards, she ran to the kitchen and came back telling us that she can only bring the chicken and the shrimp was no longer possible. I asked her to bring two chicken dishes because we wanted to share them between 3 people but she said she cannot bring anything else apart from that one chicken dish. My friends and I decided after that that it was okay and we made a plan to go to another place nearby and eat something else there. But we found out that the kitchen of the other place was going to close at 11:30 pm. So we asked for the bill so we could leave from there as soon as possible. And it took 20 minutes for them to bring the bill because of some error in their system. So when we left from there, the kitchen of the other place was already closed. The food was delicious but the service of that waitress...

As someone who enjoys Caribbean food, I was really looking forward to trying this Jamaican restaurant, however, this was one of the worst food experiences.

We reserved a table for 18:00 and arrived at the restaurant at 18:04 and we were quickly seated. We were informed by our waitress who was wearing a pink shirt that the specials were unavailable, disappointed we ordered from the meal option. (Mind you the waitress seemed nice). She took our order and we waited.

Ten minutes after we were seated and got our drinks, another table came and ordered their food. Their food proceeded to come out while we were still waiting for our food. I asked our waitress about our food and she made an unfunny joke "that maybe they forgot about us but she was going to check". She went to the other table and realized that they had our food and she tried to give it to us. The the order was incorrect as my friend had jerk chicken and I ordered the vegan bowl, so we declined, preferring to have the correct food that we ordered. After the mixup we see our waitress eating her food while we are still waiting. By this time we have waited over 45 mins for our food. I went to the counter to pay for our drinks and complain about our waitress and the food. A man came from the kitchen and spoke to us saying that our food will take only 10 mins while I told him that this line has been repeated to us before. He convinces to wait for our food but we asked for it to go. He buys our drinks and we pay for our food.

The food turned out to be even worse. The baked mac & cheese was cold. The plantains were undercooked, they used wild rice for the rice and peas. That's not Jamaican soul food and I was solely disappointed. We were given free pecan pie but it was hard, it tasted like molasses and ultimately had a funny taste.

I wouldn't trust the many 4 or 5 start reviews. There are too many glowing one that seem fake or paid. I hope this review helps the restaurant improves so that no one has the same...

Wonderful Dining Experience at the establishment!

II recently had the pleasure of dining at this excellent restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish!

As soon as we walked in, the warm ambiance and tasteful decor immediately set the tone for the evening. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and promptly seated us at a cozy table, making us feel right at home.

The menu selection of dishes was phenomenal. We started with the Honey Rum grilled chicken wings, which was a perfect blend of flavors, beautifully presented and simply delicious. For the main course, I opted for the Joosy Jerk Chicken, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Cooked to perfection, the dish was rich in flavor and beautifully plated. My wife had the Yardman Ox Tail dish and that was fantastic explosion of flavor.

To top off our meal, we both had the excellent choice of cocktails that was elegant and delicious. My wife had the Mr. Guava Lover and I had the Perfect pineapple. It’s was amazing!

What truly stood out was the level of service we received. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, providing expert recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

Overall, I highly recommend Joosy Gastro if you’re visiting Barcelona, Spain. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends, this place delivers on all fronts. I can't wait to return and explore more of of what’s...
