KimchiMama — Restaurant in Barcelona

My wife always gets a kimchi craving when we are traveling and she found this place after searching through several korean restaurants in Barcelona. And I must say this is one of the top Korean places we have been to. It is not just that they serve authentic and tasty Korean food, but we loved the owner couple (?) ran this place. You are first welcomed with your name written in Korean, and the service throughout is really good. They explain things well and keep casual talks going to keep the light mood going. Korean music selection in the background is good, and the vibe of the place is just right. We had kimchi jun, jjigae, and dak galbi. All were on point and really good. The only down side is that this place seems very popular and you would likely need a reservation ahead of the time, and the service is bit on the slow side likely due to queued up food orders. On our vacation from USA to Barcelona, after so much Spanish cuisine, we craved for some Korean food in Barcelona and we didn’t get disappointed at all at KimchiMama! This restaurant is owned by a nice and very friendly married couple and the wife additionally offers kimchi classes! So you can be assured that everything tastes high quality and home made, just as your loving mom would prepare with the most attention and care. We had kimchi fried rice, Kimchi Bravas (Catalan style potato wedges with Kimchi mama sauce), kimchi stew with tofu, bulgogi (marinated beef with vegetables and sweet soy sauce, ojing-o bokum (sautéed calamari with various vegetables in spicy sauce). We had an amazing dining experience at Kimchi Mama! From start to finish, the food was packed with flavor and authenticity. We began with the Mandu and Yangnyeom Chicken—both starters were delicious, especially the crispy, perfectly seasoned chicken.

For the main course, the Dakgalbi was the standout—it’s a must-try! Rich, spicy, and incredibly satisfying. The Dolsot Bibimbap was beautifully presented in a sizzling hot stone bowl and full of fresh veggies. We also ordered the Rappokki, which had the perfect balance of chewy rice cakes and ramen noodles in a sweet-spicy sauce.

Every dish was expertly prepared, and you can really taste the care that goes into the cooking. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere made it even better.
