First of all service is great. Secondly pizza is very nice too but I wouldn't come here with the expectation to find something amazing after seeing the award of being one of the to 50 Pizzas in Europe.. I must say i am a pizza chef and value pizza a lot. But also i must say i am a Northern Italy style pizzaiolo, do not like Napolitan..I know when I say this, I already lost some of you reading:) but i like my pizza thin and crispy, Dough could be a bit thick like Argentinian or Sicilian type, but still i need to be able to hold the slice straight ( with the rim broken in two ) in my hand when i eat. So the pizza is good and very similar to many good pizzerias in Barcelona ( parking, can pizza..etc ), but nothing extra. The atmosphere is very simple, not much natural light inside, which is also common in BCN. So if you are looking for some good quality pizza in a normal setting with good service, and decent prices Balmesina is a good choice.

I liked the pizza I ordered, even though I personally believe it is too expensive for what it actually is. The dough is soft and and the “burrata e pesto” and “prosciutto e funghi” pizzas are very tasty but, as I said before, maybe the price is too high compared to the market in Barcelona. The interiors are cool, with nice decorations, books, art on the walls. At the same time, toilets are probably the weakest part of this place. They are located downstairs, where you arrive and find boxes and can see the kitchen. I went to the men’s restroom and it wasn’t a pleasant experience, as a bad smell was very strong and the door could not be closed. For a restaurant where a pizza “Margherita” costs 10€, I would expect a bit more (at least a fixed bathroom door). The stuff is very nice.

What a disappointment🥹Had read such rave reviews so took a train ride to go all the way to try this place. We ordered Burrata that came in a bowl, bit weird presentation. An Asparagus cream Pizza and another Amatriciana. The pizzas had no flavor whatsoever especially the asparagus cream pizza. Added salt and chilly oil but still not edible. The pizza base were like focaccia bread and not toasted enough. We also ordered a Tiramisu that was served like a piece of cake so visually not appealing. It was ok nothing great about it. The staff was nice and the service was fairly fast if that’s a constellation.

Passing by the front door, one might not give it the value it deserves, don't be fooled, this is a seriously good pizza restaurant.

What prompted my first visit was its position as the 10th best pizza restaurant in the whole Europe for 2022, here: https://www.50toppizza.it/50-top-europe-2022/

Inside the restaurant there was nothing fancy, but when the first pizza I order came, my goodness, boy was it good. I got a focaccia with a burrata and an iberic jamón, it was an out of this world experience, the flavors and the texture layers were just perfect!

Then I got a quattro formaggio pizza, it was so good, usually like to have pizzas including the extra dough from the outer rim of the pizza, the flavor was so good it makes you want to have more.

Of course I haven't tried all their pizzas yet, I've been three times already, but in my opinion there's no way to have any bad pizzas, wonderful dough, good ingredients, no way for this...

Yesterday was my first time, and I just really really loved the pizza. The very best dough and filling I have ever had. EVER. I chose a Pizza Truffata. I am still dreaming about it 24h later !

Service is impecable. Kind and FAST. Spacious between tables to keep conversations private. Bathroom clean.

They keep the high quality by having good turnaround: you have 2 hours to eat and talk. Then you have to pay and go to let your table for the next shift. I think it is a good policy because you can have delicious food without breaking your budget.

Make sure you make a reservation. Either on the Google Maps app or by calling at two specific hours when they have someone taking reservations for the shift. 12 to 1, and 6 to 7, I think 🤔 Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you, La Balmesina! One new faithful...
