We are regular guests with my friends in this place, especially if we visit the bunkers. Without exaggeration, the best patatas bravas is served here, both in quality and portion. The allioli is home-made and special, as well as the red souce, however, the latter does not exactly follow the original recipe. It doesn't matter, because 1) it's their specialty and tastes great 2) it still represents a much higher quality than those bars where they serve half of the portion with double of the price and the red souce is basically tomato picante, or even worse, they buy it industrially processed and ready in a hypermarket.
As we are regular guests, I can confirm, that the quality and portion of bravas is constant and is great. It is great for two hungry pepople and is 3,95€.
Other favourites: calamares al andalusa or a la romana and fried pescaditos.
Unfortunatelly, lately the calamares al andalusa it is not the same anymore. Still good, but very far from the one I tasted months ago.
Calamares a la romana, good as always. The breadcrumb is prepared in-house and the calamares are soft and seem fresh.
Pescaditos: my husband's favourite is a simple and nice meal. Goes well with the bravas. They reduced a bit the portion compared to last summer, but it is still ok. (I think they had to, because many guests couldn't eat the whole portion, and probably they didn't want to waste so much food. My husband was, I think, the exception, he could eat whatever amount of pescaditos.)
UPDATE (March 2019) Fried pescaditos was oily and didn’t taste good at all. We had to eat it with a lot of bread.
Another nice dish, if one has no opportunity to often eat seafood, is mejillones al vapor. These are steamed mussels with garlic and lemon. Simple, elegant and tasty.
Service in most of the cases is quick and professional and some of the waiters are friendly and communicative, so you might end up tasting everything from the menu. UPDATE (March 2019): Service is still quick, but the waiters are not that friendly anymore. The only friendly ine was a waitress, the first female employee I have seen here in 5 years.
The place has the best price-value ratio compared to the restaurants I've eaten so far in Barcelona.
It is in front of the "secret entrance" of Park Güell and under the bunkers of Carmel. The terrace is a bit noisy, too close to the cars on the road.
The interior of the place is big, but it doesn't seem too spacious. It would need a complete re-design as well as the menu card and the sign board. The visual elements and the atmosphere of the place just simply do not represent that authenticity and compassionate cuisine of the restaurant. Although the building itself with stone facade could serve as a good basis to create an interior and terrace design in harmony with their cuisine, image and brand.
In summary: it worth it to climb the hills to arrive here. It is my favourite brunch & lunch place.
One of the reasons I really like the neighbourhood where I live, is the proximity of Las Delicias restaurant.
UPDATE: I am removing 1 star from ny previous 5-star recommendation, because: the pescaditos was oily and tasted bad the red souce on bravas was not spicy at all, and couldn’t recognize the pimiento ahumado (smoked paprika) in it the texture if patatas bravas seemed re-heated, not freshly prepared the waiters are not as friendly than...
Read moreWe came three times during our 4 days trip in Barcelona. It’s very close to Park Güell and is well worth the visit. This came as a recommendation from our Park Guell tour guide. The atmosphere and staff are great and always make you feel extremely welcomed.
The prices are so fair and competitive, generous portions and the food quality is absolutely impeccable. There is an English menu so language is not a problem.
Food recommendation: Padron pepper (ordered small every time we are there) Potata Bravas (Ordered large everytime we are there) Steamed fresh mussels (what I ordered was small for just under 6€ but check the size in comparison to my hand! It was huge!!) Catalan Crème - so good! fried squid Seafood black rice (so flavourful) Pork shoulder Seafood pasta was wholesome and fresh.
We also had pork crackling and fried fish - they were great as tapas with drinks.
Drinks: Coffee was one of the best I had in Barcelona. €1.60 for a Cafe Leche - absolute bargain Sangria was amazing! It’s about €3 a glass, very generous in size and you would pay €10 elsewhere in Barcelona. Beer with lemon was also beautiful. So light and refreshing.
Note this is a great quick stop for a snack/drink or dining in place weekdays it’s easier to get a table. Weekend (lunch and night) - please expect a bit of a queue but the staff operate efficiently, so it’s never...
Read moreThese guys are tourist haters. They made us feel like unwelcome scum.
Las Delicias spoilt our holiday.
Their food looked delicious by the way, I only wish they took our order!
But I can confirm that they treated us awfully and purposefully unwelcome.
Pretended not to speak English, then spoke fluently in Englishto the French group whom were sat two tables away.
Please ask your council/government to stop tourists, please don't blame us for wanting a holiday.
Air BnB is taking liberties around the globe, but it is not the tourists to blame, it is the council/government.
We stayed in Hotel 1898 in Barcelona central, we did not take up a domestic residence.
Do Catalonians not leave Barcelona? Where do you go on holiday?
Barcelona has been sending hundreds of thousands on holiday for centuries and now your asking the world not to visit?
Barcelona would be in a worse place without tourists, so please look to blame your council and not...
