Bar El Rincón Sevillano — Restaurant in Barcelona

We had the most authentically welcoming and delicious experience here. We were greeted with an ice cold beer, and then ordered a the cold guspacho soup followed by the grilled cuttle fish dish, finished with a lovely home made desert.

It felt like we were guests in someone's home. The price was very good, quality, taste and atmosphere better than most places we found in the city. It's pretty much locals only here, so you know its good.

The waiter went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, ensuring our glasses and bellies were full.

El Rincón Sevillano és una anomalia en el sistema. Una excepció deliciosa i necessària. Un bug emocional al Matrix gastronòmic de Barcelona. És el síndrome d'Stendhal gustatiu amb xupito de licor d’herbes, una nit boja on el teu avi acaba competint en una rave amb Lemmy Kilmister, vocalista de Motörhead, en una trepidant partida de dòmino.

És una galàxia paral·lela on el ritual sagrat de beure i menjar bé no només sobreviu, sinó que et rep amb un somriure i una canya ben tirada. Aquí no hi ha QR codes ni enginyers de Google: hi ha fogons, hi ha família, i hi ha amor per fer les coses com s’han de fer.

Això no és un bar, és una barricada. Una trinxera de resistència contra aquesta Barcelona convertida en spa urbà per a guiris amb crocs. Un lloc on “menjar casolà” no és una etiqueta de màrqueting, sinó un compromís amb la memòria i la taula ben parada.

Però no et vull esguerrar la sorpresa. Només et diré que entre els plats que ens han tocat el cor hi ha: – totes les varietats de truites (sí, totes, fins i tot aquella que no sabies que necessitaves), – uns callos que podrien aturar la guerra entre Rússia i Ucraïna, – cargols picants que semblen Keith Moon repicant amb les baquetes les teves papil·les gustatives, – i un còctel de cigaló propiciat per en Jordi —fill dels fundadors— que és manifest líquid del lloc: la tradició i la transgressió fent-se una abraçada de complicitat.

I només acabar amb un: llarga vida al Rincón Sevillano, irreductible poble d’Astèrix gastronòmic dins d’aquesta Barcelona romana on el Cèsar només vol entretenir el poble amb circ i ous benedict.

This place was recommended by someone we met while riding the bus. We went there to try their paella but we were served with gracious servings of local food (from gazpacho, tender beef- don’t know the name, yummy tuna salad, and a variety of desserts). They only mostly served locals. The owners were friendly, helpful and generous with their time and even showed my husband how they make paella. This place is a hidden gem!
