Locanda del Vulture is a quiet little Italian restaurant in a residential neighborhood of the Provençals del Poblenou section of Barcelona, Spain.
The restaurant is family owned and operated. In fact, the owner, who is from Italy, near Naples, is always present making sure each dish is perfect and that each guest is satisfied.
Matteo, my server greeted me with a huge smile and explained the menu specials. He was so helpful in picking out a beautiful red wine to pair with my meal.
I started with the ensalada burrata, which was a fresh salad of arugula, burrata, and cherry tomatoes topped with shaved parmesan and drizzled with olive oil. It was absolutely delicious.
For the main course I got seafood pasta. It was such a surprise when Matteo rolled out a cart with what looked like a puff pastry on top of a bowl. The puff pastry turned out to be pizza dough that they put on top of the dish of seafood and pasta. At the table Matteo cut into this pizza puff pastry and beautifully plated my seafood and pasta using the top of the pizza puff as a liner for my bowl. Wow and YUM!
I finished with a glass of Molinari sambucca - a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
I am giving this restaurant a 5-star review because of the friendly and helpful service and most of all the delicious food.

Read moreOur favorite meal so far in Barcelona! This family is so kind and it is apparent how much care they put into their food and service.
We started with a Chianti which was served with Spanish olives. Then we decided on the veal carpaccio and accepted our server’s recommendation of focaccia bread (so glad we did!).
We learned that our server was the owner and his kind wife told us of how they literally slept in the restaurant at the beginning of the pandemic, preparing to-go and delivery orders for the neighborhood to keep the business thriving.
Next, they recommended two entree dishes and we said, Por que no?! Again, we were so pleased to have had the guidance. These delicious entrees (first two on the Suggestions menu) were prepared table side. (Google shortens the video to 30 seconds - too bad because the entire video is so fun). Both were incredibly delicious.
Finally, we decided on tiramisu and panna cotta, two of our favorites. As a gift, they also brought us samples of two pistachio based desserts which were amazing!
They finished by bringing us limoncello cordials which was the perfect sweet finish to an incredible meal experience.
We highly recommend Locanda del Vulture. Fantastic, homemade Italian food with warm and...
Read moreBack in the day I use to write restaurant reviews in NC USA. Coming from the NYC area, it almost wasn't fair. Recently I traveled to Barcelona.Spain. While there is no shortage of great tapas, authentic Italian can be hit or miss, until I came across Lozada del Vulture. I started with the Carpacio Di Manzo. The portion was enough for four, the beef tender and well seasoned. The dish was accented with a reggiano-romano cheese that wasn't over powering and enhanced the mesculin salad mix raw tenderloin beef. Next up was the mesculin tuna salad. The flavors were great, yet as an illiterate in Spanish, I would have been happier with the Buffalo Carpese salad. For the main entree, I had the special, homemade Pappedelle en Forma, tossed in a reggiano cheese wheel with a hint of vodka that opened the flavors of the walnut and caramelized...
