Looking for an unforgettable night in Barcelona? Look no further — this place will leave a lasting impression… just not the kind you’d want.
Let’s start with the food. They claim to be some sort of Italian-Spanish fusion spot, but if plain pasta with no sauce and broccoli on pizza is their idea of creativity, then we must have missed the “fusion” part. The pizza was average at best — edible, but nothing to write home about (unless you're writing a warning).
But the real experience begins with the service. Or should I say, the total absence of it. We arrived — a cheerful group of five friends (locals, expats, Argentinians, all good vibes) — and were promptly greeted with… silence. The older, bald waiter saw us, looked through us, and ignored us for 30 minutes. No water, no menu, no eye contact. Just pure invisible treatment.
When we finally asked if we could be served, he literally waved us off like we were bothering him in his living room. I had to get up and go to the bar just to ask: “Excuse me, are you going to serve us or what?” We weren’t even difficult customers — all of us have worked in hospitality, we get the pressure. But this wasn’t busy — this was intentional. The kind of coldness that says, “We don’t want you here.”
To top it off, another couple arrived after us and were served before us. Not a big deal normally, but combined with everything else? It felt deliberate.
And when it came time to pay — surprise! No splitting the bill allowed. Fine. Rules are rules. But when I told the waiter it was the worst service I’ve ever experienced, he looked me in the eye and said: "Well, there’s a first time for everything." A rehearsed line, which tells me one thing: we’re definitely not the first people to be treated this way.
So unless you enjoy average food served with a side of visible disdain and discrimination — avoid this place. There’s enough great food and genuine hospitality in Barcelona. No need to support a restaurant that’s still emotionally stuck in...
Read moreWalking into La Briciola feels like stepping into a time capsule — in the best way possible. The vibe is pure 1990s Italian trattoria: warm, unpretentious, with an interior that hasn’t been touched just for the sake of trends. It’s real. It’s got soul.
But let’s talk about the pizza — amazing. Proper dough, proper oven, proper ingredients. This isn’t just “good for Barcelona” — this is proper Italian pizza, the kind that makes you stop mid-bite and go “finally.”
It’s tucked away in a part of Barcelona that’s more local, less tourist-heavy, and that makes it even more of a find. You actually feel like you’re in a neighbourhood, not a queue of visitors hunting tapas.
Book ahead, especially for dinner — it fills up fast, and for good reason. If you know what good pizza is supposed to be, and you want to escape the polished tourist traps, this...
