Suguru Sushi — Restaurant in Barcelona

Unwelcoming: If you’re alone, don’t bother; they will never let you sit.

I went to this restaurant around 9 PM for dinner, but the experience was extremely disappointing. At first, the waiter greeted me with a big smile and asked how he could help. However, when I requested a table for one, his attitude changed: he seemed puzzled, as if he didn’t know what to say.

There were several empty tables—two tables for two and one for four (made up of two joined tables)—but I was told there were no available seats. When I pointed out that the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy and there were clearly free tables, he kept insisting that he couldn’t seat me without providing a clear explanation.

I had the distinct feeling that if I had said I was with two or more people, a table would have suddenly become available.

I left feeling very disappointed as I took several metro to get there. I can’t comment on the food since I didn’t get to try it, but the hospitality and service left much to be desired. If you’re dining alone, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Quality ingredients and produce used to make some nice offerings. Sushi options were pretty standard and they have some house specials, as expected, which were equally good. They also had some generous hot plate servings which pair equally well, and a decent enough drinks selection.

Fairly competitive with other Japanese venues through the city and this is nicely located in the heart of Gràcia.

My only complaint would be that items like nigiri and gunkan were a little pricey for the amount per unit you actually get; they seemed a little small but we’re delicious...

I live in Japan and I could say this is one of the best sushi restaurants in Barcelona! The fish was fresh and fatty and I love how there was more fish than rice 😂 It is not all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant, but the price is still reasonable!
