🌇✨ Za’atar Pool & Bar – Where Barcelona’s Summer Nights Come Alive 🥂🍴

Tucked away high in the skies on the 14th floor of LabTwentyTwo, a Tribute Hotel by Marriott, sits one of the most magical rooftops in Barcelona – Za’atar Pool & Bar. I stayed at Lab22 earlier this July during the perfect Barcelona summer, and this gem became my evening sanctuary.

🔥 First off – THE POOL. Imagine soaking in warm summer air, city views stretching endlessly, and a hot pool that cradles you in comfort. This isn’t just rooftop lounging – this is elevated bliss.

🍷 But let’s talk about the real magic – THE FOOD & DRINKS. I had dinner here 4 out of 5 nights, and I regret not making it 5 out of 5 😄.

Let’s break it down: • Crunchy fries with crispy poached eggs – pure artistry on a plate. • 🐖 Pork belly? Crunchy, juicy, melt-in-your-mouth heaven. Had it twice, maybe thrice… I lost count 🤤. • 🥩 Steak (medium rare) with a runny fried egg on top – I mean, come on, who thinks of this perfection?? • 🐟 Fish dishes, croquettas (both mushroom & beef) – every bite a little celebration. • 🍅 And the tomato bread – simple but MIND-BLOWING.

Every dish felt like a hug from Barcelona’s soul. The wines – red, white, and especially that rosé cava – sang harmonies with the sunset. 🍷🌅 Add in a few cocktails and aperitifs, and you’ve got yourself the perfect evening ritual.

💡Pro Tips: • 🍽️ Kitchen closes at 10:30 PM, bar at midnight – just the right balance of late-night chill. • 🛗 It’s one floor above the guest rooms (lucky me 😎) – easy access for spontaneous cravings. • 🪟 Ambience, service, and views? 11/10. The staff are attentive without hovering, and the vibe is modern yet relaxed.

💯 Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Would I order the same meals again? Absolutely. Twice. Maybe thrice.

The bar service at this place is horrendous. I have been about 4 or 5 times over the last year and to my surprise it never improves. When there are events, to order a drink at the bar, you must first join a queue to order from a waiter at the till at the end of the bar. Said waiter is often multi-tasking and taking requests from all directions. The till and the card reader machines are also very slow. Once you’ve ordered and paid, you must then go and stand at the crowded bar and wait for the one bartender to make your drink. It likely will not be in the order that you paid for and ordered it and you will definitely have to ask for it at some point. It’s disorganised, inefficient and an awful customer experience! I’ve waited for almost an hour previously! It’s a shame because it’s a great venue and location, stunning views, the food and drinks are great but they seem entirely incapable of running an efficient, professional, customer friendly and customer focussed bar! I complain every time and nothing...

Mauro, the restaurant manager, and Alejo, our server, made our experience absolutely perfect. The restaurant’s design is phenomenal, and the service was truly exceptional. Despite having a party ongoing, they accommodated us with the ideal space, even with all the bags we had with us. Their attention to detail and hospitality were unmatched. I can’t recommend this...
