Excellent modern art collection!
Catalan and Spanish painting from 20th and 21st century, a private collection and a skillful selection of the exposed works.
Very different styles are presented, collection is not imposing or favoring certain approach discriminating others, but one can fully enjoy pluralism and diversity of contemporary art. Endless freedom of creation and interpretation of the art based on personal sensibility are the greatest values of contemporary art, which separate it from the previous centuries, which were based more on restrictions and rules.
Organization and design of the exposition and relationship between artworks is equally good.
Personally, I enjoy this collection, much more then official modern art museum in Barcelona.
Architecturally it´s a contextual re-conversion of the old textile factory and valuable public space designed by BAAS.
Fundaciò Vila Casas has two more museums in Costa Brava (sculpture and photography) equally valuable and all three are wonderful gift wealthy family with artistic sensibility could give...

The exterior of the building is surrounded by a park that is made to look like a small urban forest. The building's modern architecture integrates elements of the past of Poblenou, chiefly an industrial brick chimney. The natural lighting inside the building is quite successfully carried out, enhancing the lighting used for the art, but never overwhelming it. I cannot leave without congratulating the curators, not just for the variety of styles available on view, but also for the way the artwork...
Read moreThe awesomest part of this museum was the actual architecture of the building. It was quiet for a Sunday afternoon but as i strolled the cement and glass hallways with my sweetheart by my side I discovered a few gems among the hundreds of works. There is definitely a sense of Catalonian pride. All of the artists are local and painting/sculpting for a Spanish audience. The bathrooms are gender neutral and you can get a decent espresso from a coin operated vending machine on the third floor. Worth the 7 euros (2 euros if you can prove that you are a professor or are...
