Two words : utter chaos. We arrived at 11:50 for a 12pm booking only to be yelled at by a very bitter and rude woman "you have to wait". Which was totally bizarre as there was zero people in the line.
We come back nine minutes later at 11:59 and there are about 100 people in the queue. There are no signs, no direction and no order about where to stand. We were yelled at in Spanish about where to stand by a security guard who had no idea what was going on. After we showed him our ticket he pushed us into another random line. We get ushered downstairs the security screening area, where things continue to deteriorate. Firstly, they only have one of two security metal detectors open. This serves the purpose of slowing the already unnecessarily long line down. A bizarre and mind boggling choice. People get to the front of the line and are told they don't have a ticket so then have to go to another desk to buy, which only slows down the line more. It was a complete calamity.
By the time we get through the worlds worst exhibition we get into the lift at closer to 1pm. Close to an hour later. Sure the view is great but then you're forced to wait in yet another queue to get back down to ground.
I asked if I could use the stairs as that would be a much faster option than waiting in a queue consisting mostly of prams and screaming babies. I was rudely told again "you have to wait".
Overall, I'd say it was a stressful and bizarre experience.
My advice -
. signage downstairs to manage the queue into times that match ticket times . Open the 2nd security lane. I mean, what the actual hell is that about? Bizarre! . Reduce visitors per session. It was more rammed up there than an oversold Taylor Swift concert.... it would have been much faster to walk down 30 flights of stairs than it was to wait for the elevator. . Train your staff to speak to guests with kindness. I mean, come on... This is basic stuff. They seem overworked, over stressed and underpaid. Probably explains the nastiness.
Go if you must, even with pre purchased online tickets, but be be prepared to wait, then wait, then wait some more. And then wait again to finally leave the chaos and go get a wine to calm...
Read moreWe had a fabulous time at the Mirador torre Glòries building and attraction. The building's a short walk from La Sagrada and Placa de la Catalunya (where we stayed). Once there, the entry was very swift and we were soon in the very interesting, imaginative and enlightening exhibition. After about 30 mins in the exhibition we took the elevator to the top of the building on its 30th floor.
From there you get the most amazing 360 degree views right across the city. Having been to La Sagrada (which is also incredible), the views are much better from Mirador torre Glòries. On a sunny, blue sky day you can see for miles.
Having taken in the views, we then did the Cloud Cities art installation, that is also a really fun climbing frame inside the top of the building, above the heads of the visitors! Once you've secured your valuables in a (free) locker you just clamber up on to the climbing frame and explore! You can go up and down or just along. You can even sit and just enjoy the peaceful views. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and shorts/trousers!
So, all-round great fun and great value, and lovely, informative people, too. Thoroughly...
Read moreThis place is amazing. You can buy ticket to go have emersive experience. There is rhythm area, area with animals, bugs etc. made with paper, visual area, and at the end, you go up to 30th floor in 30 seconds. Elevator has glass on top so you can look up and watch the mechanism inside the elevator. When you get to the top, you have 360 degree view of Barcelona. If you paid a little extra (totally worth it), you can climb "cloud" exhibit on the top floor. Note! You do have to be able to crawl and move yourself around smaller areas. Imagine when you were a kid and you have to climb through playground areas. That's the same experience. They don't let you go in with anything in pocket. You can take your phone, which they give you a plastic rubber holder to put your phone in that goes around your neck so you can't be hands free while crawling, climbing. They do provide a locker where you can stow away your bags with a lock code that needs to be inputted by you.
Definitely worth a visit to enjoy the view or the...
