This hotel has a very good location, with parking and there is a mall across the street, a lot of restaurants near by. Public transport is close with 2 metro stations at about 10 minutes walk each, tram and buses. Not far from the hotel is Torre Glories and from there you can see Segrada familia which you will reach out from the tower in about 30 minutes walk. From my first contact with the hotel, I have asked about a city view room, once before check in, second at the check in. In both cases, I was ignored, without any answer and I received a room at first floor, near by the elevator. The view was in the street. When we entered into the room, a smell of old furniture we could felt before seeing it. The room had old style furniture, the bathroom was modern. The space for luggage and clothes is limited. The wardrobe is 2 parts space only. On one part is the place for hangers. Here there is an ironing table and an iron that occupy half of the space available. We could use only this space for add our fluffy winter coats here. This part is very hard to open and the door is falling each time you try to open it. In the second part of the wardrobe, there are around 4 clothes spaces that you can use them, but 2 are already occupied, one with 2 quilts and one with a safe box. Is very hard to squeeze in there and the light inside is blinding you, rather than helping. When I was taking my slippers and parking my shoes under the mirror, there was a cutted nail there in the corner underneath the mirror. Because that was my spot for leaving my shoes, I could see it daily until I checked out. If you go now, I am sure is still there. Also you can see the limestone on the sink that seems to have months of non properly cleaning. Sink is the most used in the room. Shouldn't you have a general cleaning program? In the room was cold as outside, it was showing 14 degrees. We tried to approach the controller and increase the temperature in the room. After several attempts we called reception. She helped us with better temperature, but the air entering the room was very cold. I am not sure if you had complaints about this, but really, how can you take a shower on this 14 degrees temperature? We had a second call to reception and they increased more the temperature without results. We had to get out and see BCN, we were in BCN to enjoy it. Unfortunately, after coming back to the hotel and after a very nice walk through the near by places we saw that nothing changed, the same temperature. We were so tired and we concluded that the 2 quilts inside the wardrobe was for this. The bed was comfy yet very cold. We complained second day at the reception, and I was a little disappointed by the attitude of "we have only one heating system is working or not". By the end of the night it worked somehow, but the bed was still cold. For the whole 3 nights I had to use another 2 quilts to heat myself here. I strongly recommend to add instructions above heating controller inside of rooms. No one likes surprises, especially in the vacation. The breakfast has a lot to choose from and daily these can change so you have variety within a very nice restaurant. The service is very good and it is open by 11am so you can extra sleep. On the last night, I couldn't sleep until I was very tired. The activities of my neighbours were so loud and clear as they were within my room. The elevator was dinging and the street was so noisy. I guess the noise was there all the time but I was too tired to hear it. In conclusion, the breakfast and location was very good. Reception, cleaning and room were not so good. The price paid and quality that I have expected is...
Read moreMy stay at this Marriott hotel, which I specifically chose due to its affiliation with the Marriott group, turned into an absolute nightmare. It not only ruined my entire trip but also made me feel deeply unsafe throughout my stay.
It all began when the hotel attempted to charge the first night's stay to a credit card that wasn't mine—a card belonging to a family member who had made the reservation for me. After the transaction failed, they notified me via email that they would cancel my reservation. When I requested a direct payment link, they claimed their system was down. Thankfully, Diago, who was the only person helpful and kind during my entire stay, agreed to let me pay in person the next morning.
Upon arrival, I asked if I could confirm my stay for just one night and decide about the remaining nights later. Despite my reservation being refundable, the front office manager rudely refused, citing previous issues with the credit card. It was clear from the start that the hotel was treating us poorly.
On the second night, as my friends were returning to Jordan, we learned that the airspace had been closed. Despite a helpful employee rebooking their room, there was a mistake, and three nights were booked instead of one. When I called to rectify the situation, Diago assured me that everything would be taken care of. However, upon my friends' arrival at 5 am, the employee on duty treated them disrespectfully, accusing them of issues with the booking, despite no wrongdoing on their part.
The next day, the same front office manager summoned me, accusing me and my friends of misconduct. He accused my friends of being rude, despite not even having spoken to them. From that point on, our stay became increasingly uncomfortable as the staff was unwelcoming and rude.
The worst incident occurred on my last day when I discovered 300 euros missing from my bag. Juan, the person in charge, accused me of making false accusations and refused to take any responsibility. Feeling disappointed and unsafe, I left the hotel immediately after checking out.
To add insult to injury, the front office manager called my sister, berating me and calling me a liar. He refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing on their part and even threatened to discuss me with the Marriott employee who originally booked for me.
This experience has completely tarnished the Marriott name for me. It not only ruined my stay but also my entire perception of the trip. Feeling unsafe in a place where I should have felt secure was the worst part. While I admit there were some confusing circumstances, it in no way justifies the mistreatment and accusations I endured. I am certain that someone from the hotel stole 300 euros from my bag, and their denial and mistreatment only added to the distress of...
Read moreCheck-in:
The check-in process was seamless. The staff was courteous and pleasant, providing all necessary information for a comfortable stay.
Guest Rooms:
Cleanliness: The rooms were clean with simple aesthetics.
Bed: The beds were very comfortable, featuring plush duvets and medium to soft mattresses. Standard accommodations include three guests per room, so we had a rollaway bed added for the third person. The rollaway bed was comfortable for a small child or teen.
Washroom: The washrooms were very clean and equipped with standard amenities such as hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair cap, cotton pads, and a hairdryer. Additional disposable amenities are available at the front desk.
Room Amenities: The room included an LCD TV, desk, and chair. However, the in-room safe was somewhat finicky and outdated.
Breakfast:
Selection: The breakfast offerings were a highlight of this hotel, with a large variety provided every morning. The food was fresh and plentiful.
Food Quality: Despite the large selection, the quality of the food remained consistent each morning, with fresh fruits and vegetables. The food accommodated most dietary needs.
Overall:
This hotel is situated in a very pleasant area of Barcelona. The main street in front of the hotel resembles the famous La Rambla, but it is cleaner and feels much safer. The street is lined with numerous restaurants, convenience stores, small fruit stores, and a pharmacy. The beach is approximately a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and the train station is conveniently located at the back of the hotel. Additionally, local bus and taxi stands are right in front of the hotel. The main mall is just a four-minute walk away.
The street where the hotel is located offers a wide variety of dining options, including local classics, pizzerias, Japanese cuisine, and numerous bakeries.
Opportunities:
In the future, the installation of a self-serve ice machine and a water bottle filler would be appreciated.
Would I Return?
Given the high level of service and the exceptional breakfast, I would certainly choose to stay here again when I return...
