I’m a big fan of small plate concepts like this, and I have to say — the atmosphere, interior, and food were all spot on. Everything looked and felt thoughtfully curated, and as someone who has worked in hospitality all my life, I genuinely appreciated the attention to detail on the culinary side.

However, I found the service surprisingly chaotic, especially for a restaurant with a maximum of 35–40 guests and around four staff members on the floor. When we arrived, I tried to greet the staff, but was quickly cut off with a “one second.” While I understand it can get busy, a simple acknowledgment or thank you for our patience, or a smile would have gone a long way.

After a short wait, we were shown to a table tucked into a dark and rather tight corner. I politely asked if there was another option, especially since we had made a reservation a week in advance. Thankfully, we were moved, but from there, the service continued to fall short. Menus were handed out, but we received no guidance on portion sizes, no welcome, and no offer of water while we browsed — all of which I consider the foundation of good service.

It took about 20 minutes before anyone took our order, and no one checked back in during the meal. I appreciated the opportunity to taste the wines, but again, no context or explanation was given, which was a missed opportunity to elevate the experience.

We ordered five dishes, which weren’t categorized on the menu as starters or mains — so I asked about the portion sizes and was told they were all tapas-style. They began arriving one by one: three of them came out relatively close together, but then we waited another 15 minutes without seeing the remaining two. I finally asked if anything had been missed, at which point the server asked if they should take away the three untouched plates that were still sitting on the table. I replied that we hadn’t even started eating yet. The staff then clarified that the dishes were meant for sharing and served as they’re ready — which we hadn’t been informed of, nor had we requested them to come separately.

By this point, we had been sitting at our table for 46 minutes.

We had also asked for bread when the food started arriving — not because we were in a rush, but simply to accompany the dishes. However, the bread only showed up after we had finished eating. The bread was cold and dry — the typical kind that’s a few days old and just re-toasted.

At the end of our meal, I mentioned all this to one of the servers, who was very kind and explained that we had indeed arrived right in the middle of the restaurant’s rush time. I truly felt for them — it’s clear the team is doing their best under pressure, but with better organization and leadership, the whole experience could run much more smoothly.

All in all, while I genuinely enjoyed the food and loved the ambiance, the service felt disorganized. With just a bit more care and structure, the overall experience could absolutely match the quality coming out of...

Our night was ‘Burger Night’ but can’t say burgers were anything special at all. There called ‘mashed’ burgers, just seems like they have been sat on. Not flavoursome, but too much cheese, quite dry.

Biggest issue was service, the team seemed very inexperienced and unable to deal with simple issues.

The wine list is weird, too clever by far, our first choice was unavailable, however the waitress presumed to tell us what alternative we should order, no idea why she had the confidence or thought she knew our wine preferences sufficiently as we have never ordered here before, and her suggestion was way off what we would like. But the list is weird enough to be confusing.

Next issue was the two of our party received their order (3 of 4 we’re basically the same order) but they had almost finished with no sign of the other two arriving, really poor attention to what’s happening in the restaurant to let that pass.

I had to go and find a server to point out that we were missing half our food!

They initially seemed to think I was not being honest and had to come to the table before accepting that yes “two almost finished dishes and two not arrived”

There burgers, so why another 15 minute wait for the food to arrive, at which point two diners had actually finished.

No apology, no attempt to explain or compensate, I n fact from that point we felt ignored.

We would not say we would never go back, everyone makes mistakes, but in hospitality it’s how you manage mistakes that can turn people away for ever, this place needs to learn to manage errors in a way that leaves the customer content,...

Booked for 5 people, dinner, six weeks in advance, interior. The staff are friendly and efficient. It’s a hard working team because this place is buzzing and they are doing their best. The food is ambitious and largely ok but on our night, it was the ambiance which dragged the score down. Message for management: lower the music volume A LOT. It’s impossible to have a conversation and it just makes you want to leave . ( maybe that’s the idea). I booked interior, betting on a hot summer night with aircon comfort.. No, no, no.. The interior is the exterior with a roof. It’s all one thing and whatever cooling they have, it’s not working. 30 degrees at 10pm is just too uncomfortable. So between the heat and the music volume, it was just not pleasant. Again, the staff worked hard and were friendly enough. The food was a serious effort. But the end result was that we just couldn’t wait to leave. Begur in summer is just unbelievably busy. It was impossible to get a car park within 2 km of the restaurant. Keep...

We stopped in to Clara on a rainy April Saturday. The town was quiet and only one other couple was in the restaurant. Despite this the food absolutely blew us away. Every dish we had, many recommended to us by there bubbly staff, were 10/10s with a range of inventive and delicious dishes. The house wine by the glass was great and cheap at 3.50€, the hip hop/RNB music was bumping and lifted the mood on a rainy day and the fit out was nice to top of it off. Would 100% return and recommend. Menu highlights we ordered (from memory: - Anchovy with truffle cream on toast - razor clam crudo with green curry sauce - Iberico ham croquettes - Tuna belly carpaccio with tomato - Leak with hazelnut - Grilled squid with fries - Chocolate fondant cake This with a couple of glasses of wine totalled to €102. Well worth it in my opinion.
