Darcie's Motown Bar — Restaurant in Benalmádena

We had spotted this bar on our way into Benalmadena and with many of our party enjoying Northern Soul and Motown, we headed over to Darcie's on Saturday evening. Unfortunately, on arriving we were almost immediately made to feel very uncomfortable and unwanted. The owners were constantly coming up to us to check we were buying drinks - which is fair enough, they are a bar - but drinks were not allowed on the dance floor, and all tables were reserved or full, with very limited space to even stand, and nowhere to put our drinks if we did want to dance to the music. Staff were really rude and seemed to go out of their way to make us feel unwelcome, particularly to younger members of our party (we were a mixed age group, from 18-65), telling them that it was 'for old people' and insinuating it was not for them. We didn't stay beyond one drink because of how we were treated, and the owner followed us out to tell us off for not buying drinks, even though most of us did and those that didn't were following the 'no drinks on the dancefloor' rule. It felt like if you were not a regular, or if you were under 25, you were not welcome...

Amazing place to drink. The staff are AMAZING. Engage with you on a personal level, always asking to make sure you’re alright. Very quick with drinks refills and just all round a good vibe. The two ladies behind the bar are incredible - very friendly and exactly what you need in a bar. The music is great for the motown scene. Would definitely recommend. Cheap prices compared to elsewhere we’ve drank too. Also, the toilets (womens) are really well decorated - with items like deodorant, and womens sanitary items. What a fantastic bar , great music , tamla motown , northern soul,, soul and more , plus less well known tunes played by the resident DJ...staff first class , linda is a diamond , pockett rockett pete and the owners trev and jackie are first class , its at the top end of the town( torremolinas side ) , well worth a visit , me and the wife tried loads of other bars , but this place really stands out , oh , and linda if you are reading this , debs put her back out and was in a bit of gyp on the last night , thanks all for making our hols great , see you soon ,...
