King of Curries Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Benalmádena

This place was amazing at first, our favourite by far, now not as good as it used to be. Very kind staff though.

We've been here 4 times in the last 3 months. The first 2 times we thought it was amazing. Freshly ground spices that made the curries rich and intense in all the right ways. So exciting! The third time we thought it was changing to pander to local tasks, and then last weekend it was just incredibly disappointing. Almost everything bland and sweetened. What a hufe shame.

This time we had Sag Aloo which though green in colour barely had a hint of the flavour of spinach. The small amount of spinach was pulverised into a texture-less mush. The potato was a little stale. We also had Lamb Achari. There were several, not many, very small pieces of lamb which were ok, and the promised flavour of lime pickle and mango was just non existent. Another super insipid curry.

We think the chefs and staff are fantastic!! But what a shame that we've lost the beautiful rich curry flavours that they once produced. Won't be returning soon. So...

Our group of eight arrived at this cozy and homey place in Benalmádena.

The place was packed so we got the choice to wait 30 minutes or sit outside, we decided that we can sit outside with some drinks and wait for the seats to become vacant.

It was really windy and our drinks went flying from time to time and it got really cold, the wait was a bit longer then expected, but the blame can't be put on the staff.

They came in to check on us and did everything they could to reduce the wait time which is a big plus.

Foodwise however was a little bit of a disappointment for my taste buds.

I ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala and Garlic Cheese Naan. As a half-Indian I found the Tikka Masala way too sweet and too little spices. The naan was really good though.

Overall great service, but if you are a bigger group of people you should call beforehand if you don't...

Our takeaway last night was excellent. Chicken tikka pathia (requested hot) was the perfect heat, chicken was cooked exactly right (not dry like some) and had loads of flavour. The passanda requested wasn't on the menu but the chef had no problem making it, also very flavoursome. Pashwari naan really tasty as were the various chutneys that came with the meal.

Great service too. The waiter specifcally asked me to include any improvements to a review; nice to know they are open to improving. My suggestions on that note would be the popadums could be better, the takeaway rice could be a bigger portion (I will order 2 next time if the same size), and the takeaway tubs should be sustainable material rather than plastic. That is me being picky, it's 10/10 for food quality and service. Will...
