Water Margin Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Benalmádena

Decided to eat here against our better judgement due to the good reviews.... What is wrong with you people, why are there so many good reviews I honestly can't understand! I get it; sometimes you want a cheap tasty Chinese, I wasn't expecting top class food but this was just terrible.

The atmosphere is rubbish, it's cramped, loud, and busy (no idea why it's so busy)

Food was bland from start to finish, the service was awful, I had to remind them to bring out my main, while my partner's main sat cooling on the table.

I had the fried dumplings to start, they came dry with no dipping sauces, the meat inside was bland and unseasoned. My main was, salted chili chicken with chips and a side of curry sauce, everything looked anaemic, the crispy chicken was pale and (surprise!) unseasoned, barely any chicken in the battered lumps. The chips were tasteless and the curry sauce was watery.

We ate what we could stomach, which was less than half, paid our bill and left. Disappointed that we wasted one of our holiday meals. Anywhere else would have been better. Probably one of the worst Chinese...

Visited here because of the excellent reviews and was abit underwhelmed. Service absolutely brilliant. Friendly staff. No long waits. Opted for set menu for 2 which is very cheap! You can't moan about the price it's probably one of the cheapest restaurants in benalmadena. Had soup which was very tasty but after that it went down hill. Had beef and black bean and the beef was like mush, God know what they had done to it. Had chicken and mushroom and the mushroom was so strong in taste it blew your head off. But the real off putting thing was the amount of flies in the restaurants, there was 100s of flies all crawling on the lights. I know it probably can't be helped but when one lands in your rice it really does put you off. Would not recommend. Definitely better chinese restaurants...

You can grab a cheap bite to eat here, but the food is mediocre. We ordered tofu, fish, chicken, and beef. The fish was absolutely terrible — we couldn't even eat it. The chicken was a little bit dry, and the beef was overly salty. The tofu was tasty, but the stewed vegetables in sauce were bland.

What saved the experience was the friendly attitude of the staff. When we arrived, there were no free tables outside and it was very stuffy inside. We mentioned this, and the staff immediately turned on the air conditioning, which made it much more comfortable. The service was quick. We paid €70 for seven people, which was very budget-friendly.
