Had 2 really horrible experiences here. We have come to Benidorm on holiday with my two friends. We are all girls aged 23-25. I am 3 months pregnant so only drinking soft drinks/water. I’m sure you can appreciate I have to be careful what I eat and drink so was drinking water all night, my two friends however were drinking. The first night I had a water bottle in my hand that I had bought and was drinking l. We go to go into Chaplins and the man at the door said I had to leave my water at the front. I refused as I am not leaving a drink unattended as I’m not stupid so we left. One of the men outside promoting the club tried to get us to go back to go in but I obviously didn’t want to as I wanted to finish my water and not feel rushed or waste the money I’d spent on the water. He started shouting at me in the middle of the street completely humiliating me I explained that I was pregnant and that I am not wanting free shots obviously and wanting to finish my water without leaving it unattended and he just shouted going “YOU ARE BAD FOR BUSINESS WE DO NOT WANT YOU HERE” baring in mind my two non pregnant friends were drinking and would of course get drinks.
The second night we are asked again to go in so we do. We were in the bar for about 3-5 minutes before a man who worked there approached me and asked if I wanted a drink. I said no thank you for me and before I could ask my friends if they wanted a drink (which they would have got might I add) the man started shouting at me (yup again) saying “GET OUT WE DO NOT WANT YOU IN HERE” I was completely humiliated and it was a horrible overwhelming experience getting shouted at in-front of loads of people whilst being 3 months pregnant. My friends were so shocked that someone would speak to me like that with such disrespect and without asking the girls if they wanted a drink it was horrible. Once we left I could not stop crying and the distress I felt was unreal. Please please teach your staff that it’s not right to speak to people like that especially a group of young girls I tried to explain to the man that I was pregnant and was about to say that the girls would take something but the agression this man had the second I said that only I didn’t want one was horrible he even tried to grab me and I was NOT having that. Totally unprofessional behaviour and scary if I’m honest. It ruined my night and ruined my experience here on holiday which was meant to be a...
Read moreI’m writing this review after an extremely upsetting experience at Chaplin’s. Upon entering the venue, I was touched inappropriately by security/promoter staff outside. This was deeply distressing and the last thing anyone should expect when going out.
When we raised this with the manager (Emma), she was fantastic. The bar staff inside were also sympathetic, which I really appreciated. However, we were told that it is 'normal' for people outside the venue to place stickers on sensitive parts of the body. Whether this is aimed at women specifically or at everyone, it is absolutely not acceptable.
I didn’t notice anyone else with stickers placed in the same way as mine, which makes me concerned that this may not be as 'normal' as suggested. Regardless, unwanted touching without consent is not something that should ever be tolerated.
To management: please take this seriously. Please reiterate to all staff what consent means and ensure customers are protected from behaviour like this outside your venue. Although Emma handled the situation very well, it did seem that other members of staff were already aware of this issue but hadn’t raised it. If it happened to me, I can only imagine it has happened to...
Read moreVery bad experience. My husband got beaten up for nothing by the security staff even if he didn’t do anything. Some drunk guy wanted to take my chair while I was out for a smoke. My husband said the seat was taken. And out of nowhere the security asked my husband to leave the building. He didn’t understand why, because he didn’t do anything. There was no time for a conversation. Three security staff members pulled him down to the ground out of nowhere. And then dragged him outside. Once outside one of the security gards gave him an extra punch in the stomach. During the whole scene my husband shouted “I’m leaving”. But apparently that was not enough for the macho security gards. By the way, my husband isn’t a...
