I visited the bakery just before 8am on a Monday. It was busy, but the three who worked the counters served everyone efficiently. The lady who took my order spoke excellent English, which was helpful because my Spanish wasn't working. As I prepared to leave, I dropped my cappuccino and it exploded all over the floor near the door. The lady behind the counter gave a kind look and said "don't worry." She continued to fill orders for a minute, attend to the oven, order me a replacement cappuccino, and then she quickly produced a mop and cleared the mess in 30 seconds. She even made a small joke to the woman whose umbrella was on the floor near the spill that at least her umbrella would get a thorough washing in the rain. She didn't miss a beat, and went straight back to helping other customers. I once spent many years working in the service industry, and I know how rare that level of composure is. The place is aesthetically beautiful, from the moment you walk in you’re in awe to see so many amazing products. The staff are fast and friendly and always making sure you get the right thing. Today I decided to go for a bocata de jamón ibérico and I couldn’t be happier, even though the bread look hard and stale, it’s quite the contrary, the bread is soft and toasty just perfect. Moving on to the tortilla de huevo con jamón, the first time I had it this trip it was really bad, the ham tasted liked it was expired, but I didn’t want to let one bad experience deflect me from the actual reality, today I am having it again and I can say they redeem themselves with this one. The orange juice is always pressed fresh infront of you and it’s nothing short of amazingly refreshing, bertiz is a great way to start your morning or just get a quick snack on your way to anything. Great cafeteria for coffee and something tasty. The chairs and sofas with a cushion are a plus. My wife chose coffee with oat milk. While drinking it, she noticed that the milk in the coffee had curdled. Back to the staff who responded that it wasn't that bad. She threw away the remaining oat milk in the jug, but they left the opened carton sitting outside the refrigerator on a warm afternoon.
