Terrible experience. I’m travelling alone and I was curious to try some local food so I found this restaurant, I’m only staying one night in Bilbao and this was the closest restaurant to my hotel. I went there quite early , it was literally empty. Only a couple was having dinner. As I walked in The waiter looked annoyed when I asked to have dinner instead of eating at the bar. Bad start. As I sat down he brought the menu ( literally threw it on the table) and was pressuring me to order , he told me I had to get at least two dishes. I wasn’t that hungry but I felt pressured to get two dishes. He didn’t propose anything, he was visibly annoyed. Afterwards, as he was walking away he asked me what drinks I wanted, I said white wine and water, I don’t speak Spanish so I was trying to explain but he was half way there only turning his head. Totally careless. He came back, his colleague brought me the first dish ( which was only salmon) and he poured a red wine in my glass. I couldn’t even choose the wine, and I wanted a white, but there was no way to interact ( I mean, I was completely disregarded by him ). Second dish arrived shortly after. After all this, I couldn’t wait to leave. I only asked for a coffee and got up to pay as I didn’t even wanted to wait at the table for the bill. I was feeling so uncomfortable. The Bill was 52 euros … I was there for just half an hour, I never had to eat so fast in a restaurant. I’m still shocked. The food was ok, good but nothing special. Celebración familiar a por todas, y agridulce experiencia. Pedimos la carta de vinos y nos atiende el listo del barrio, el camarero nos indica que como no íbamos a conocer ningún vino de la carta se permitía la licencia de recomendarnos dos vinos uno de 29€ Israelí y otro de 35 € Chileno, es como llamarte paleto sin conocerte, sobre todo cuando una de las comensales tiene un blog de vino desde hace 20 años, pero como estamos de fiesta pasamos por alto la actitud de camarero y elegimos el vino chileno 50% shiraz y 50% variedad autóctona chilena, buen vino, fresco al paladar, cuerpo medio y notas de frutas, buen vino. Los entrantes empiezan muy bien,.las ostras de calidad, pedimos dos raciones de guisantes lágrima fuera de carta, q como es costumbre no te informan del precio (36€/ración) y aunque un poco justiitas de cantidad estaban deliciosas, seguimos con una excelente ración de jamón cortada a cuchillo, pero se acabó la fiesta, ración de pulpo que no sé si era a la brasa o a la plancha, ya que estaba tostado, seco y gomoso, rivalizando con el peor que había comido hasta la fecha que fue en la feria del marisco en Sansenxo. Pasamos a los segundos, tres personas piden rodaballo, y la verdad es que el producto era de calidad pero al cocinero se le pasaron dos puntos de cocción y salvo las partes más gelatinosas el resto estaba bastante seco. Dos pedimos carrilleras, buena presentación y se desmigaban con solo tocarlas pero estaban bañadas con una salsa (reducción de jugos de carne, alquimia del chef y algo de txokolate), que mataría el sabor de un estofado de jabalí salvaje, estas salsas se echan en una esquina y que sea el comensal el que elija su dosis. Y llega lo peor, una ensalada de perdiz escabechada, la pobre perdiz se vengó con ayuda del cocinero. Aparecen en la mesa unos brotes verdes cuasi tapados por una salsa de nombre indeterminado, la cual impedía distinguir si la carne desmigada era de ave o de impresora 3D, vamos que pedimos un plato que se llama perdiz escabechada y te dan algo que sabe a pollo con salsa rosa. Alguien no se ha leído bien la receta. Si queréis probar una ensalada 10 de perdiz escabechada os recomiendo el restaurante El Molino de Vilviestre del Pinar en Burgos, no delivery por Globo. Postres para 5 de los 6 comensales, buena presentación y bastante correctos, ninguno de alta nota. 70€ por comensal, incluidas dos botellas del vino chileno, de precio hubiera estado correcto si los platos hubieran acompañado. El camarero, que entiendo oyó las críticas ya que el local es coqueto pero reducido, se hace el orejas cuando salíamos y no nos despide. Un comensal va al baño y tiene que agacharse para salir, ya que habían bajado la persiana, detalle final. En fin, fuimos porque nuestros restaurantes habituales estaban completos y nos cogía cerca de casa, por algo no está...

bad service slow & unfriendly waitress, didn’t offer any help or suggestions, not even a vague smile bad atmosphere, stark bright lighting like you’re at the dentist, with poor music from an 80’s elevator overly dressed salad with that was swimming in oil and salt Mussel gratin was over seasoned with too much salt T-bone steak was cooked correctly, giving this review the 1 star bread roll that was warm and soft was good, but despite not being ordered was charged an extra 1.50€ each cannot see any connection to the brother restaurant Zortziko, which is a Michelin starred restaurant. It's a nice place with exceptionally good meat and fish. It's really focused on these and there are little vegetables or potato accompanying the meals. However, you get ample side of bread. Only a few vegetarian options, the artichoke were good and the mushroom risotto was very good! The desert was also good. Had a nice typical drink "crema de orugo" or something like this which was really better than other places. I also enjoyed my wine. Thanks for a wonderful evening. No vegan options for a main meal, only mushroom carpaccio starter and the artichoke. Maybe if you call in advance (which I didn't).

We saw the white asparagus (in season now) on other tables and wished we had ordered them, too. Your server will filet and serve your fish table side along with a nice pil-pil sauce. Yum! Save room for desert if you can!

A long day of travelling brought us from Barcelona to Bilbao and a stay at the Hotel Ilunion. To find this little restaurant just a few minutes a way was a great delight. Fresh anchovies to start, fresh fish and Bacalao followed by home made desserts. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service attentive. A great pity we don't drink alcohol as the selection of world wines is very impressive.
