Olagarro — Restaurant in Bilbao

Great food. Two of us went there a couple of times, and both times it did not disappoint.

On one occasion we ordered Pulpo a feira with a separated portion of cachelos, and lacón. It was more than enough for 2 people, the octopus was tender enough as it should be, and the lacón was pretty nice, not too salty for what I was used to but tasty enough. The lacón cuts were slightly larger than what is normally served in Asturias or Galicia, but it isn't a complaint at all. On the second occasion we had an Empanada (a portion of Empanada sliced in 4 smaller portions), and Arroz con pulpo. The Empanada was a normal one, I would recommend to order 2 portions for a person as we noticed that it could be not enough. In our case, we ordered it to share while we were waiting for the Arroz con pulpo, and it was ok for an appetizer at the start. The rice was lovely, well cooked, tasty, and the pieces of octopus were tender enough. The portion was more than enough for 2 people.

We did not get to try the desserts on any of the occasions we got there, so we may give it another...

Lo primero, aviso, que es mejor reservar si queremos comer en el exterior, solo hay 3 mesas y " duran" poco, máxime ahora que hace más calor, y comer al aire libre, junto a la ría, no tiene precio. Aunque tuvimos la suerte, de que nuestra hora de llegada, era compatible con la hora reservada de los siguientes. De todas formas, en el interior hay varias mesas. Comenzamos por unas zamburiñas, super frescas, riquísimas, un sabor espectacular. Luego el pulpo a la brasa, con patatas y salsa suave de alioli, está bárbaro....!!!, Fresco, tierno, en su punto - aunque, como le dije al camarero, un poquito más de salsa alioli, hubiera quedado perfecto para las patatas, y decir que, muy amablemente, me sugirió que podía haber pedido más salsa -, pero lo comento más que nada por apunte. Luego el rodaballo y el gallo..., de 12...!!! Si estuvieran más frescos, estarían vivos. Buenísimos.....!!!! Con sus verduritas de acompañamiento....es que no se puede desperdiciar nada.

De postre....Las filloas, una especie de crepe, rellenas de crema pastelera, caramelizadas por encima con azúcar flameado, y acompañadas de una bola de helado de chocolate y natillas. Divinas....!!! Es para repetir, porque merece la pena la calidad y la cantidad. Muchísimas gracias al camarero, atento y amable en todo momento, que nos recomendó el pescado, porque está fuera de carta según disponibilidad.

Y por último, decir que tienen varios menús, pero son para grupos, no se el número, no le pregunté, ya que pedimos un menú, y fue cuando nos comentó que era para...

Friendly, funny and patient waiter who gave us great recommendations. We had a mussel salad, padron peppers and “pescado de roca”. All the food was incredibly fresh and a perfect combination of local ingredients and preparations. We were amazed by how flavourful everything was and our waiter recommended a perfect wine to pair with the food.
