I love this place so much!! The flavors are so good, and the ingredients are so high quality, I would sometimes come here twice a day for lunch, then dinner during my week-long stay in Córdoba. The kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing. The restaurant gets very busy for dinner so don’t expect the service staff to constantly be around, however you eventually get food that’s so good it absolutely makes up for any long wait. I especially recommend the Salmorejo, the Brioche de Rabo de Toro, the Canelón Ibérico, and the cheesecake, torched with sugar crème brûlée-style right at the table. However I have tried at least half of the menu, and 3 dishes off their alternating menu written on the wall inside the dining room, and I have to say, everything was just perfect. There are cheaper restaurants in the area, but you will not get nearly as good of an experience because La Taberna del Rio really focuses on high quality ingredients and the chefs are highly skilled. Definitely don’t miss out and give this place a visit. Then go to the bar to pay, so you don’t have to sit an extra half hour waiting for the bill. Definitely go inside and check out the specials menu written on the blackboard, their paper menu is just the regular menu, though everything is worth a try here. I recommend absolutely everything! Come multiple times. That was over many days of coming again and again because the food was just too good to miss out on! Portions aren’t small, don’t expect to try everything in one visit. But you should definitely go more than once!!! 9.8/10

A local friend of mine told me that this place was really good because it was a restaurant along the river in the old part of town. The place opened for lunch at 1pm so we waited nearby and grabbed a coffee and some beers. Once we arrives, the staff were very attentive to our needs since we were traveling with a baby. They had a baby high chair. We ended up ordering ordering Salmorejo(local dish), berenjenas fritas, patatas bravas, flamenquin cordobes casero, and queso.

(update) Not the restaurant it used to be. Many better choices close by. We were very disappointed overall after our experience in 2018. ---------------------------- Excellent food and great staff. My wife and I stopped here for lunch. I had the salmoreji soup made with watermelon (Sandia), she had the traditional tomato salmoreji soup. Both were extremely good! We followed with the papaya salad which was equally wonderful. A tremendous find. (July 2018)

Good food and nice seating area outside. We didn't need reservations or have to wait for a table on a Sunday around 9:30pm. The waiter was friendly and spoke English. The dish my husband wanted was not available, so we had to change our order. The eggplant fries were amazing, and they were nice about serving the cheese on the side. The salmon was very good, and the noodles were simple but also good. A little expensive, but you get a lot of food.

It was wonderful, as one would expect of a place with numerous Michelin awards. The place was fully booked, but we were caught by a waiter already a few blocks away, who told us he managed to find a place for us. How can you refuse? Our choice was berenjenas, risotto de Rabo de Toro and pluma de Cordoba. All were delicious. The bill was fare.

The service was excellent, Rocio the waitress was very kind and patient. The food is great taste and nice portions. We had the spinach salad with goat cheese, the eggplant fries (awesome) and the cannelloni filled with pork and terrific seasoning. We were pleased and we highly recommend to eat here. The price of the dishes is very reasonable...
