Restaurante Casa Rubio — Restaurant in Córdoba

We had a tasty dinner at this beautiful restaurant, but were really let down by the service. It was completely cold and detached, and even unprofessional at times. This is disappointing considering the price tag.

We grateful to be seated at 8pm, knowing our table was needed at 9:30pm. Instead of giving us reminders of when the table was needed, the waiters just kept asking to clear our plates when we clearly weren't done. They didn't ask whether we liked anything we ordered. They asked to clear our beef tartare (one of the most expensive dishes on the menu) three times, all before 9pm. It's not like we were eating or drinking slowly, or spending less than the average customer, so it would have been nice to have been treated as one.

By the end we felt so uncomfortable that we returned the table early. I understand that the table was needed, but perhaps there should be an emphasis on present diners as well?

When it comes to the food itself I found it very tasty, although the beef tartare came coated in mayonnaise, which was not mentioned on the menu. This is unusual and an acquired taste, so I felt it should have been mentioned. Had this been different and the service warmer, it would have been a five-star dinner. I don't think we...

My hotel suggested this place. I walked by it in the morning and looked at the menu. It seemed decent enough and the place looked good from the outside. When I came back at 1 PM, it was packed but they got me a table in the outdoor patio on the rooftop. Tables on the sidewalk were all occupied, there are two large floors inside and they too were all occupied. Usually this is a bad sign as with so many guests, the kitchen has to produce a large amount of food that can only be mediocre. Anyway it’s too late to do anything. It’s a Sunday of a long weekend and the historic parts of Córdoba were mobbed with locals and visitors. Antonio was my waiter. He suggested grilled red shrimp and hake with white asparagus, both dishes being specials and not on the menu. His recommendation was excellent. Both dishes were simply executed and they were tasty mostly thanks to the quality of the ingredients. (See photos.)

I have a few other restaurants to try in Córdoba, but Casa Rubio is definitely worth coming back to should I run out of ideas. Highly...

Average at best! Have to admit based on the reviews and being suggest to come here from the sister restaurant (casa pepe de la juderia) but I have to say we were disappointed. The waiting staff did not seem to care they were here and although not at full capacity seemed to be struggling. They got one of our drinks orders wrong and didn't apologise and the sangria is watered down with canned rather than fresh fruit. The bread accompanying the meal was so dry and tough it would be better to build a house with than eat. We decided to go with tapas but the croquetas were very soft and not much flavour in the filling, the fried cod was soggy and lemon mayo that came with it overpowered the whole thing (far too many lemons). Their fried aubergine just tated like sweet oil we couldn't even eat it. The best thing was their 'spicy potatoes' which is just patatas bravas so not sure why they decided to call it something else. Would suggest just go to the sister restaurant and leave this one be if you want...
