Quick review...over priced, not delicious, rude service.
One of the most disappointing meals of our trip to Spain. This restaurant was highly recommend by two different guidebooks and we were excited to enjoy what they had to offer.
Firstly, the waiter was incredibly rude and dismissive through out the entire meal. I don't speak Spanish well, but he was obviously displeased by that fact and made no effort to assist me in understanding by speaking slower.
The bread served was hard and in plastic packaging. We didn't touch 2 of the 3 breads and they were never ordered.
We ordered katsuobishi and mushrooms which simply tasted of the katsuobishi. Our main dishes included the ox tail stew, the Galicia steak and wagyu steak tartar.
The Galicia steak was extremely fatty. I like steaks on the rare side of medium rare, but this was imply seared. The waiter seemed irritated to have to cook it more. The ox tail meat was soft and tender, but the flavor was missing. The tartar was textured well but simply tasted of mustard.
Overall, incredible miss on all dishes. We hoped dessert would be different. There was a local yolk based flan dish and pastry with angel hair.
They may have been wonderful and I am unfamiliar with local desserts, but to me the flan was too heavy and the pastry was covered in sugar messily and was much too sweet.
To add to the terrible experience the waiter removed our two untouched plastic wrapped breads and still charged us 1.30 euro for each piece of...
Read moreThis is an old fashioned meat-and-potato place, literally. The decor is old fashioned, the menu is old fashioned, even the waiters’ uniform is old fashioned. The cuisine is old fashioned Spanish with emphasis on meat. As one enters, there’s a large glass case showing all the cuts of meat that can be ordered.
I ordered tomato gazpacho, mixed salad, and pork shoulder with potatoes. The gazpacho was runny and hardly tasted of tomato. The lettuce in the salad had seen better days, but I must say that the dressing was pretty good, which saved the dish from total loss. The pork shoulder was cooked rare, very rare. I’m not criticizing, this is how Spanish people eat pork. I asked the waiter to have it cooked a bit more and the kitchen did a great job. They sliced the pork in half to reduce the thickness and grilled it to medium / medium rare. After that, the pork tasted great, which is often the case with Iberian pork. The waiter even offered a table grill, thinking I wanted the meat to be even more cooked. Great service.
So in summary, excellent meat dishes, very average for other foods, and...
Read moreMy eight-year-old son sent a reservation by email in the morning, on Sunday August 8th. He found this restaurant and really wanted to go. We were the first in the restaurant when they opened in the evening. When we showed up, my son talked to the host. The host said we did not have a reservation. The host responded rudely to my son “you sent the email on a Sunday, who works on Sunday?“.
I told him He was working on a Sunday, but wasn’t working well. We left. We went to Casa Romano, No. 10, and Casa Pepe, during our stay. All walking distance from this one, with great food and excellent service.
If you agree that SUCCESSFUL RESTAURANTS SHOULD NOT BULLY TOURISTS , ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, please choose one of these other fantastic restaurants in Córdoba. It is unacceptable to me, especially with an 8-year old kid who did send the email with the reservation request, to receive such rude treatment. They don’t deserve...
