Sidrería Ribeles — Restaurant in Cabrales

Arrived at the restaurant at 19:00, as google was indicating it as open, was told that kitchen opens at 20:00. We was back around 19:50, sat down at the table wanting to order drinks, the waitress ignored us for 20 minutes, we were the only customers at the restaurant at that moment. At 20:10 we was able to order drinks, the kitchen still was closed. The cook showed up at 20:15. No need to say lady didnt speak any English, we do understand a bit spanish but she not even tryed to slow down when talk or explain, wasn't friendly even a bit. I always found it quite arrogant to make money on tourists but not even make at effort to learn the couple of phrases. The food - below average, extremely greasy, wine didnt taste nice eithther. Have no idea why this restaurant have such a high rating, even if food was excellent the level of the service would spoil...

Based on my experience I find it difficult to fathom how this restaurant has a 4.4 star average and currently rates higher on Google than the far superior restaurant across the road, San Telmo. Whilst this place had generous portion sizes and the food was tasty, it was greasy. More importantly, my partner and I had to dine beside a bin which is inexplicably placed in the rear of the restaurant. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the bin had been clean and hadn’t smelt of rotting food. Once our olfactory systems became acclimated with the aroma our dining experience became more pleasant but on my return from the bathroom I was once again hit with that pungent rotting food odour and was reminded I’d been ingesting decaying bin food molecules as well as my dinner. We booked a table a day in advance and we were very excited to have a cachopo here. Had a very nice salad, but the expensive cachopo was disappointing.. Overcooked meat and the cheese was too strong taste wise, overpowering all the other ingredients.
