El Sueño, Cadaqués — Restaurant in Cadaqués

We had dinner tonight and the food, the drinks and the service were very good.

We had: Bread with tomato and smoked sardines, which tasted very delicious. Ceviche from seebass, a nice surprise, the composition of flavours was very well rounded and refreshing. The fried kod, referencing the Dutch kibbeling, which was very subtile and focused on the quality of the fish. An ox stew, made with red wine, very earthy and deep flavours, meat was so tender it was falling apart. A salad with a selfmade mayonnaise, nice combination and presentation.

All in all a very sincere approach in the kitchen.

The drinks were fine, the service was outstanding. Hope the team keeps this standard once the place gets better known, which it undoubtedly will.

On our trip from Argelès-sur-Mer in France to l'Estartit in Spain, we made a pitstop in beautiful Cadaqués. We visited 'El Sueño', which means 'the dream'. Well, the restaurant definitely makes their dream—and that of their guests—come true. The nice thing is that I ordered in Spanish, but the owner responded in Dutch. The owners are from The Hague and have hospitality in their blood. The fish and chips? Everything is fresh, even the sauce is homemade. The children loved it. The tapas are also really delicious. This is a place that is a 5 in everything (dog friendly inside, amazing soul comforting food, ok prices, has vegetable milk, also has good drinks)… except service 🧑‍🍳

Waiting 20 min just to get the carte and order food, and then over extra half an hour for the food was way too slow. I know it was a busy lunch day, but still - that’s why I can’t give more than 4 stars total.
