Lovely Seaside Spot – Great View, Average Food

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while walking by the sea. The location immediately caught our eye – cozy, breezy, with a beautiful view, especially in summer. Being big fans of seafood and rice dishes, we noticed they offered exactly what we love: black rice with seafood, fish tapas, croquettes, and a fresh tomato and tuna salad.

On our first visit in the summer, we were fairly satisfied. The food was simple and fresh – nothing extraordinary, but enjoyable. The black rice was the highlight, flavorful and well-prepared, deserving a solid 4 minus out of 5. Service was quick and friendly, although the waiters were a bit too eager to clear the plates, sometimes a little too early.

We came back in winter, hoping to relive the experience. Unfortunately, the seasonal menu was more limited, and this time the paella was underwhelming. Lacking character, much like the dessert – both were barely a 3+. Not something we’d come back for food-wise.

Disappointing visit, came last year on more than one occasion and was impressed with the food and service however not such a great visit last night. Had to get up 3 times to prompt service so no menus for 20 mins to start, then ordered, lovely starters arrived but then main course showed up while we were still eating, then my daughters main course did not arrive until after we had finished our main courses, had to go and find the waiter to chase as couldn't catch anyone's eye, then had to chase a second time before finally getting her main course. waited another 10 mins thirsty, finally got up and went to find a drink of water and decided not to bother with pudding . I had a goats cheese salad which was one slice of cheese and a huge bowl of leaves, no comparison to the lovely salad I had 3 doors down at the sister restaurant a few days before. We pointed out to the waiter that he should have chased the original main course himself the first time we asked, a simple sorry would have surficed but no apology, just said he had ordered it and done his job. Go somewhere else atm in Calpe. More staff, better training, no senior waiting...

Eravamo in 6, il ristorante era mezzo vuoto e decidiamo di sederci. Dopo 10 minuti (tanti) ci raggiunge una cameriera con i 6 menù più altri 6 per le bevande, con l'intenzione di distribuirli ad ognuno ma il tavolo era sporco dalla cena anteriore e le abbiamo chiesto di pulirlo e così ha pensato bene di mollarli tutti in mano ad un commensale e tornare con una spugna. opo qualche minuto ordiniamo le bevande ad un altro cameriere che provvede a farci arrivare tutto rapidamente. Chiediamo di ordinare la cena e arriva la cameriera ad attenderci. L'unico antipasto che avevamo erano 4 bruschette di pane con pomodoro e acciughe del Cantábrico, poi ognuno aveva il proprio piatto. Da questo momento aspettiamo 40 minuti che ci apparecchino il tavolo e che esca almeno questo antipasto rapido...e un commensale si alza chiedendo al responsabile gestore del ristorante come mai tutto tardi così tanto,incluso i coperti. L'uomo consulta la cucina e viene al nostro tavolo e tutt'altro che diplomatico inizia ad accusarci più volte di lamentarci ingiustamente perché la comanda in cucina era arrivata SOLO da 20 minuti e che avevano tanta gente da attendere. Come detto prima,il locale era mezzo vuoto ( non oso immaginare se il locale fosse stato pieno davvero) e cmq fino a quel momento erano passati altri 10 minuti e di quell'antipasto ancora non vedevamo l'ombra e non era nient altro che 4 pezzetti di pane con 4 acciughe, ossia, nulla di elaborato da preparare tranne che le acciughe non le stavano pescando in Asturia. Finalmente arrivano i piatti. Il famoso antipasto e solo 1 dei 6 piatti principali. Ok, aspettiamo ancora un po' e arriva il resto. A me personalmente è piaciuto quello che ho mangiato. Era un camembert in crosta con salsa di frutti rossi, ai bimbi è piaciuto il pollo con le patate ma i piatti di carne che avevano chiesto il resto del gruppo non hanno avuto successo. Entecote e filetto richiesti al mezza cottura erano invece troppo cotti e quindi secchi. Alla fine della cena lo stesso gestore ha cercato di addolcire la pillola volendoci offrire 4 gin tonic che non abbiamo accettato semplicemente perché scottati dal servizio lento, abbiamo immaginato che avremmo dovuto aspettare altro tempo indeterminato. Abbiamo pagato e ringraziato. È un peccato gestire in questo modo un locale con grande potenzialità e ottima posizione. Ps:siamo ristoratori da anni e sappiamo...
