For starters, the atmosphere is very nice. The dark wood tables and chairs have a nice contrast to the pale colored walls. The space is very roomy and bright.
We ordered wine and beer by the glass and the prices for the drinks were really reasonable. At the beginning of the meal, the wait staff was very attentive.
We typically order a bunch of dishes to share when we're at a restaurant. Overall, the food was good. However, I felt the rice dish was overpriced and underwhelming. When placing the order, we had contemplated ordering a smaller rice dish (for 2 instead of for 4) and getting another dish. The waiter emphasized how small the dish was. We ended up ordering the 4 and not getting another dish. I feel like that was probably the wrong move.
We ordered the eggplant taco appetizer and it was delicious. The tortilla was likely prepared in house. It was thicker than a normal corn tortilla but had this awesome consistency. For some odd reason, the wait staff told us when ordering that the order came with 3 tacos. However, when we got the bill, we were charged 3 times. Our server had gone off shift, and the replacement said no, an order is just one taco. While the tacos were great, I don't think I would spend nearly 30 euros for 3 tacos.
We ordered some coffee drinks to go with dessert. But those got lost along the way, and were brought out well after dessert was over. I think we actually got them the same time we got the check.
We split 3 different desserts. All 3 were phenomenal. Everyone's favorite was the bread dish. It was labeled as a bread pudding in English. I think the Spanish term is Torrijas. It's not really a bread pudding, more like a French toast. Regardless, it was phenomenal.
The dessert and the Peking duck Gyoza was the highlight of the meal.
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. If ever go back, I'll do things differently. Maybe split the burger, it...
Read moreHaving dined at Restaurante Komfort on several occasions in 2022, our hopes were high for our recent visit in 2023. Regrettably, the challenges that led us to seek alternatives last year seem to persist.
In terms of the food, our starters truly stood out, showcasing both inventiveness and delicious execution. While the culinary standards largely met the expectations of a Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded establishment, there were moments of inconsistency in the food offerings. My wife’s main course of ribs was excellent, However, my children’s entrecôte’s, ordered rare (poco hecho), arrived overcooked and were gristly. My own choice of the Team Komfort pizza, while rich in flavour from its mozzarella, gorgonzola, spicy chorizo, and sun-dried tomatoes, felt unbalanced, with the abundance of cheese overshadowing everything else. This made it quite challenging to eat.
Digital access to the menu proved problematic, marred by poor mobile phone reception and complications with the login system. The convenience of digital menus is unquestionable, but it’s imperative that the experience remains hassle-free, possibly supported by robust Wi-Fi or even a paper version.
Navigating the language barrier added to our concerns. Though my wife is fluent in Spanish, it’s unreasonable to expect her to be the translator for our table. Our repeated requests for an English menu were met with a Spanish one presented electronically on a tablet.
The service, unfortunately, was less than stellar. Our feelings of being overlooked echoed our previous visits, with staff training seemingly prioritised over guest experience.
In summary, despite our willingness to give Restaurante Komfort another shot this summer, we found that the issues from the past year persist. While we won’t be revisiting this season, we remain hopeful for improvements in the future. Perhaps better...
Read moreThe food was fine, but service was sometimes surprisingly poor.
When we got in - we got a table that was in my subjective opinion the least cosy option - right next to the entrance and with “cold” light on it.
We asked to change and the initial response was “but this table is reserved for you”. Shortly after we were offered a seat in a much better place.
We were speaking English and the waiter who spoke English brought us another waiter who did not. Which was kinda comical a bit, but more rather tragicomical when you want to have a nice evening at Michelin gourmet distinction restaurant.
Later on, when we were served 2 Koka(s) and we were 3 and got 2 Koka(s) that look like mini pizza each I asked about how shall we split it and eat it because I saw that dish for the first time, but the waiter Santiago told me - “is that a complaint and you want 3rd? We give half per person, so you already got your free half, enjoy it” - I was shocked actually. I did not speak up as I felt that I will get spitted in my next dish then.
When I asked about the price of Vega Sicilia Unico 2012 - I was told by Santiago that it is an expensive wine and it costs “somewhere EUR 250”. When I asked how much specifically it was I got the answer - it is 250 or more, I need to check with manager, do you want me to do it? I said, yes please. Then Santiago came back and said that it was 485 and did not even ask if wanted it as if we were judged that we were not able to afford it. At least that was my impression.
Moreover, I booked a dinner and mentioned that it was my father’s birthday and yet the only compliment we got was such poor treatment.
Felt disappointed by the service. Not “Komfort” so to say :)
The other waiter on duty who did not speak English was much friendlier and nicer, but it was a pity that we old not communicate due to...
