La casita azul — Restaurant in Dénia

We have often walked past La Casita Azul, which is a restaurant rather than a bar/cafe, and finally booked to have lunch last weekend. The owners are French (fresh oysters were on offer on the day we went) and offer a slightly different menu from other local restaurants - and it made a very welcome change. We chose from the two-course menu del dia (I think it was 17.50€). My husband had melon (sweet and ripe) and jamon (tasty) followed by carpaccio of beef, which was a huge serving of meat that he said 'melted in the mouth' with parmesan slices. This came with a side of chips - they were curls of new potato and they really were excellent - hot and crispy. I had Salad Nicoise followed by salmon served with rice and a confit of vegetables. Both dishes were very good. My husband then chose the homemade apple and lemon tart, which he declared was 'absolutely first class'. As he really enjoys his puddings he is a tough critic to please! (Maybe a scoop of ice cream or drizzle of cream would have been just finished it off - but that's just personal preference!) The service was extremely good, the owner/chef Vincent came out to see if everything was to our liking and our meals and drinks were served swiftly. Came here 3 years ago and had fond memories of the food and service! Back this year (no face masks this time thankfully) and had an amazing meal!
