This restaurant looked lovely from the outside with great decor, a nice atmosphere, and a good selection on the menu. There were three of us dining in the evening and it was very quiet inside (this was a few weeks ago so not a busy time of year). We all ordered different starters and mains, and we all ordered the same desert.
One of the starters (a pate) was lovely although it was served in what seemed like a painting palette which was unusual. The other two starters were very average.
For the mains 2 ordered fish and the fish that came was extremely small with barely any meat on it although it did taste nice. We also asked when ordering if it came with chips or veg or anything so we knew if we should order some sides but they said it comes with both. When it arrived there were roughly 2 tiny slices of potato and 3x slices of courgette. If we had of known this we would have ordered sides to go with it as it was barely more than a mouthful. The other main was prawns and when it arrived it was not what was expected from the name/description of the dish but it tasted good, we wouldn't order it again though in future but this was maybe an ordering mistake on our part for that one dish.
For deserts they passed us the desert menu and after we spent 5 minutes choosing from the desert menu the server came back over and told us that actually those deserts weren't included in the menu del dia that we had ordered (so I don't know why they brought us desert menus and then after leaving us with them for 5 minutes came back and told us they were not included). They listed the three desert options that were included and we ordered three of the Tiramisu. The waiter told us they have a 'special' tiramisu on tonight and we would really enjoy it so we chose to go for that. When the deserts arrived they brought us 2x of one tiramisu and 1x of a different tiramisu even though we all ordered the same, they didn't provide any explanation and so we didn't ask. The 1x tiramisu turned out to be nice, but the other 2 which I assume were the 'special' tiramisu had a very strong unpleasant smell coming from them and they also looked very unappetising. After tasting them we decided not to eat them because the taste was awful, it seemed like they had a very 'vinegar' type taste and almost as if a wrong ingredient has been put in them. We could not bring ourselves to eat more than a bite each.
The decor of the place and menu options really drew us in but the food and service is why we won't be returning. Such a shame for a restaurant in a great location with lots...
Read moreDo not whine and leave as soon as possible, if this is your gastronomic experience, I highly recommend this restaurant Bodega del Puerto Dénia.
We had decided to make a reservation based on the look of Bodega del Puerto and the menu on the wall. It turned out to be the wrong choice on the evening we were so looking forward to. Bodega del Puerto under the management of Cristo Stomo - Quintero is an ordinary eating factory with a better image and prices that are certainly not among the cheapest in Denia. We did not expect the latter. But when the Friture de foies d'oie is served cold, it is a false start. We had indicated that we wanted to have some time between the starter and main course, but even before the starter had been consumed, the owner was already at the table with the main courses. We made it clear to him that he could take these dishes back, this was no problem. But actually you know that the problem is then born, in the kitchen it is kept warm and it stands there to rot. When the main meal was served, fried monkfish, it was dried out and inedible. When we asked what would be on offer as an alternative, it was made clear to us that this was no longer available. We asked the owner about this and after telling him that I would post a review as a warning for future guests, he laughed in my face and walked away. Bodega del Puerto and La Bodega del Mar Pulperia, run by the same management, are not that serious about their guests, bring money, don't complain and get out as soon as possible. If this is your experience when dining out, I highly recommend this restaurant Bodega del...
Read moreWhat a change, they have a big problem with their extractors, smelly inside areas, it's smells badly like fryer and burned oil. Staff was hanging in the new open kitchen and they lowered just the curtains of this open kitchen. Staff was calling on their mobile phones at the open bar. Food was warm. Menu cards are verry sticky and full of greasy stains! Asked for French fries as side dish with the meat.(rabo de torro) Came patatas braves full with frying oil. Second dish was a tartar de atun, the badly and ugly cleaned dices tuna pieces where half frozen. Was almost a White/Grey Color? They have no clue at all how to resolve problems!
We definitely will not come back to this once so great place.
What a shame indeed that they need to answer also in such a bad way. You really can see this team has no interest at all. And because off this way I will change my review again. I have just checked other reviews of them, and their way off responding is a joke. This shows their quality in general.
